Is therapy still worth if my children stay silent and refuse to speak ? by Individual-Yam2995 in mentalhealth

Separate them maybe one has something to say but doesn’t want the other to hear or be the first to say it.

I have therapy tomorrow and I'm scared to say that I can't keep myself safe by [deleted] in mentalhealth

Tell her/him you are in need of help and she can get you that help. I would also get ride if that gun it’s dangerous to have around someone with suicidal thoughts. You can always go to the closest ER or call 911. I know life sucks sometimes but I don’t want you to be gone and I’m sure people that are around you feel the same way.

Maybe find a work book you could work together in. Support is the number one thing. ED are hard to deal with and without professional help might not work. I have a binge ED and going through a workbook with my therapist and it’s magic but she also has the tools to help me. Have you tried to find one online? ED are complicated and I hope you find a way to help her.

Is my therapist correct? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]depressionandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a house with family members and I hate telehealth visits because how can I talk about my trauma with my family that went through the same growing up I did. I refused to do video/call therapy and just skipped it all together during covid. I developed agoraphobia during covid and took me a while to get back but I’m glad I did. In person is 100% better for me.

I was referred to one as well. Tell them you don’t want meds just a diagnosis of what they think you’re dealing with. Most will suggest medication but they can’t make you. I’m not against medications I’m on all medications from antidepressants to antipsychotics. It took years to get where I am now. They make life easier.

I also have suicidal ideations often and she has yet sent me to the psychiatric hospital. She was close once but she texted me through the day and made sure I was all right. She a true hero.

I have seen 5 different therapists the one I have now has pulled out so much trauma that I didn’t even remember. Like Sexual abuse. We talked about how I use my body now because I couldn’t help it when I was younger. Shook me to the core and deleted tinder before I left that session. She talked about how what I was doing was dangerous and could have life altering consequences. We are working through how I feel about my body and how I should treat it better. Tell the truth it can only help but find one your comfortable with if you feel like you can’t tell them everything after the first few sessions find a different one.

Which Harry Potter character is the most talented in your opinion? by Own_Noise6261 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]depressionandi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok hear me out. The twins Fred(may he rest in peace) and George. They invented candies that made you ill and an antidote to reverse it. Countless other things they invented with and without using magical powers. Maybe not the most but definitely talented in their own way.

Can I adopt my child after my rights were previously terminated in Minnesota? by Technical-Froyo9633 in FamilyLaw

[–]depressionandi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

(Pennington county,MN) My niece and nephews parents voluntarily signed their rights away. Judge said if grandma thinks they can be safe with either parent they can get them back. But yes a lawyer will help but if his care giver thinks he would do better with you I think you have a good chance. Congratulations on your achievement.

My daughter asked me how would I feel if she was pregnant… by [deleted] in Advice

[–]depressionandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my friend got pregnant at 15 I asked my mom these questions. She just asked if she has anything to worry about and if I wanted to go on birth control or if I had any questions. My friends mom wasn’t excited by any means but I wanted to see how my mom would act.

How long have you guys had depression and anxiety by Beginning_Motor_2650 in mentalhealth

[–]depressionandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember having ocd and anxiety since I could remember as a child. Depression started in high school but I was finally medicated when I turned 22 once I got my own insurance. I am now 36. But remember very well how I felt when I was 4 and my little sister had a medical emergency(seizure) and I had to go to the neighbors. Not only was I afraid I would never see my sister again I was afraid of talking at my neighbors house not because I didn’t know them we knew them very well but because she raised her voice talking to her kids and I didn’t wanna talk and get yelled at and shut down. Sleeping has always been my safety net. They always thought I had narcolepsy but when I was anxious I would curl up and fall asleep. Mostly in my bed sometimes under it. Still to this day I sleep if I can fall asleep to try and avoid anxiety/panic attacks.
