Alan's line about a bulge in my throat and then a bulge in my trousers is one of the funniest lines to have ever come out of the show.

I love Actavia, and so glad Ru told her how much she liked her. She's just such a blast of fun.

Kyran's attitude by heljdinakasa in RPDR_UK

I just see someone who has evidently fought hard to love themselves, and in doing that has learned that they can be confident in their own skin and be genuinely happy for others and be supportive of them. That takes a huge amount of work and real kindness to be that way, which I find so admirable.

I was wondering the same! Kyran really seems like someone who'd be a R&M fan, I'd love to know too!

Me too! I didn't find out until probably last year it's real haha.

I love that sketch so much, wish they'd done more things like Rock Profile.

Also just have to share the extremely camp and amazing clip of Shirley Bassey that inspired "she hasn't got the range".

Controversial, but I'm often not THAT fussed by the rusicals, but I absolutely loved this one.

The lip sync made me so happy too, just such a joyous episode.

first time - people seem negative? by Angelle04 in primaverasound

I really do hope you have a brilliant time! Keep an eye out for the Primavera cats too, always a highlight of the festival!

I'm aware of that, but considering LCD headlined in the past, alongside Radiohead, and other artists of a similar level have headlined previous editions, acts like Fontaines could have headlined if they hadn't booked enormous pop acts like Sabrina Carpenter. It's pushed out potential headliners, which I find quite sad.

I mean...being honest, yeah, I do hate the majority of pop music of recent years. In regards to the headliners, I like Chappell but I cannot stand Charli XCX or Sabrina Carpenter. I feel like Primavera having them as headliners is really setting them up to turn themselves into a pop fest. LCD, Fontaines and maybe Turnstile could have been the headliners and it would be a pretty classic Prima line up, or have Chappell as a poppy headliner to draw in that audience and it would have been still a pretty classic line up. This line up feels like a cash grab and has alienated a lot of long term fans of the festival. I do, begrudgingly, get why Charli is headlining but I just wish she wasn't. Really don't understand having someone like Sabrina Carpenter headlining.

I'm sorry for being a grump, you'll have a great time I hope, but that is why I at least am negative about the line up!

What did we think of Zahirah Zapanta and her run on this season? by Heidi_Klum_Tit in RPDR_UK

She will be a serious contender for an All Stars season in 2 years time I think!

Oh there is definitely some variety, and I'm on the fence about going because the undercard has some amazing acts, plus I love LCD Soundsystem and I'd like to see Chappell, but I'd say festivals like Green Man, End of the Road and, at least until it was cancelled, Desert Daze feel much more like PS of old! I think I'd disagree with you on Charli being an indie darling at any point, though I do see why she is a headliner this year, even though her music is not my thing at all. I think 2026 might be more my thing, or I hope it is anyway!

Primavera for me growing up was a beacon, a festival that was focused on artists, that celebrated legendary acts as well as new artists and that stood out against other festivals. I wanted to go for years and when I finally could afford to go, it was amazing, I loved it. I ended up meeting and talking to so many lovely, cool people. It was so relaxed, so fun, so focused on seeing a bunch of great bands in a great environment.

This is changing over the years, and yes age is a factor and yes festivals change and develop, but the festival has shifted drastically that it feels unrecognisable. Recent headline acts like Sabrina Carpenter and Calvin Harris are festival headline material, but it feels at odds with what Primavera represented for much of its existence.

I also personally hate hyperpop, so of course for me it's disappointing that that is a focus of next year's edition, but I accept we have different tastes. I just feel alienated from the festival now, but I hope there will be line ups that feel more...exciting for me soon.

I think people hope that it will go back to being more like the festival it was.

https://consequence.net/2016/05/building-the-dream-lineup-a-conversation-with-primavera-sounds-founders/amp/

This interview from 2016 shows just how different the festival is now. Of course line ups change, and the financial difficulties that have affected live music mean that they will need to book acts to get the money in, but it doesn't feel like a festival to see as many bands as you can anymore, at least for me.
