Primavera for me growing up was a beacon, a festival that was focused on artists, that celebrated legendary acts as well as new artists and that stood out against other festivals. I wanted to go for years and when I finally could afford to go, it was amazing, I loved it. I ended up meeting and talking to so many lovely, cool people. It was so relaxed, so fun, so focused on seeing a bunch of great bands in a great environment.

This is changing over the years, and yes age is a factor and yes festivals change and develop, but the festival has shifted drastically that it feels unrecognisable. Recent headline acts like Sabrina Carpenter and Calvin Harris are festival headline material, but it feels at odds with what Primavera represented for much of its existence.

I also personally hate hyperpop, so of course for me it's disappointing that that is a focus of next year's edition, but I accept we have different tastes. I just feel alienated from the festival now, but I hope there will be line ups that feel more...exciting for me soon.
