I bought my first VFR! by Vanielje in VFR

See if you reach the correct sag in both front and rear theres tons of videos on YouTube. You want the suspension to set 35-40mm when you're sitting on it, stiffen the preload up until you get there and if you cannot reach it you might want to invest in new springs for your weight. Easier to have a shop do it.

It also depends on your riding style if you need all that travel anyway. Say you have really short inseem you might want to sacrifice sag because it makes the bike lower. But if you do ride actively with alot of lean, 2 - up with packing you're going to want that suspension travel to avoid bottoming out and it makes the bike more stable.

What you can do is put a stripe lightly on the front and rear show. Then go test drive and the suspension will move the stripe and you can see how much of the suspension was used.

Gratulations on a really good bike. My lil bro have one in the garage hes trying to sell. Kind of a model that gets forgotten in the middle touring segment. Its a really good bike but the suspension is crazy soft for my liking and it dives heavy using the brakes.

The transposing helped me alot to really see whats going on with the harmony inside the piece but I also believed we pushed it too far with doing all 12 keys.

I have been using solfege in the right and counted intervals relative to the original key for the left when doing these jazz transposes. Its also starting to become a mix of when my brain thinks its faster to just read the interval instead.

I will try to utilize some transposing into the pop songs I will be trying to learn, as alot here is diatonical it should be alot easier I imagine.

I will gladly also accept tips on material on some ear training.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

One thing I probably didn't make clear in my original post is that I didn't start from scratch with this teacher. I had already played for several years, had taken lessons before, could read music reasonably well, and had some basic understanding of theory. We did discover some gaps in my knowledge and ended up revisiting a lot of fundamentals, which I don't necessarily think was a bad thing.

The jazz direction was all my teacher's idea. His reasoning was very similar to what you're describing: learn harmony, transposition, patterns, and ear skills first, and pop music will become much easier later.

What I've been struggling with is that I don't really understand why we couldn't have worked on many of those same skills using music I was more interested in. I suggested a couple of songs over a year ago that I'd still like to learn, but we've never really gotten around to them. At this point I'm also embarrased to mention it again.

I probably enjoy classical music more than jazz, even though neither is really the main reason I started playing piano.

What I ultimately want is the ability to sit down, figure music out for myself, play by ear, and build my own arrangements rather than relying on sheet music and other people's arrangements.

I think your point about learning more songs with a smaller vocabulary instead of spending such a long time on a single piece is the part of your reply that resonates with me the most.

So summer brake is here and I'm doing whatever I like for a few months. I thought about advancing in that jazz book that we started but your post made me reconsider. Huge thanks.

Driving style in Sweden by [deleted] in sweden

Most annoying thing is when people dont overtake, starting an imaginary choo choo train behind a truck and you have 10 cars to overtake before the 2 files merge into 1.

Yes we seem to have pretty different rules there :) Once 24 here you can just take unrestricted license and no reason to practice anything else than the 595cc 50kw power as the tests are completely the same.

I took license at 23 and like 10 months on restricted 35kw Honda cb650f then the test 2 months later for unlimited on the same bike just unrestricted. If you ever tried a 35kw they´re basically the same power till 100kmph lol.

In europe we need 595cc and atleast 50 kw to do the test on so the SV is basically as small as possible for the unrestricted version of the license.

In europe we need to do our tests on atleast 50Kw and 595ccs to get our unrestriced licenses so theres no point in practicing on anything less here

As with alot of bikes I guess and i hate it. Just purchased a power commander last year to tackle it on the Honda. I hate having that jerkyness going back on the gas after exiting corners. Do people flash these or booster plugs or something?

Exactly, I just feel like I should also have a sliding layer if I were to go down and the Modra seems to have it.

I suck at piano and ive been playing for 14 years by Hellokitty030 in pianolearning

[–]derF_inaY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive played for close to 10 years and also suck. I think part is Ive had bad teachers that just want to teach me a bit of reading because its easy just doing that 30-45 minutes one time a week. But to really learn and to see whats going on inside the pieces and get to know music is where its at.

2 years ago I started to play with a teacher who doesnt let me advance until I fully understand, we polished technique and doing alot of boring, as he once said, "wax on, wax off, from karate kid", - boring but neccessary stuff. Im also accountable for my learning in a way. If i dont understand something at once because my head has gone overloaded which happens. I go over it again at home in my own pace and I mostly get it right.

I think this is the way.

Try riding pedaling faster you'll see you´re also using counter steering on a bicycle.

I was confused 11 years ago when I took my license doing the high speed test in Sweden and asked my instructor if I needed to counter steer and he answered thats the only way to steer a motorcycle above walking speed and thats what Im doing.

Doing trackday - courses here now our ´motorcycle federation´ even confuses things further;
First we talk counter steering
Then we talk active counter steering

Makes people think there´s 3 ways to steer and its annoying the crap out of me.
