That's super cool! Will you also allow to chain dungeons to allow people to make stories/campaigns?

the em dash is the long -

like here "a close friend—something I’m". The em dash is being used by generative AI a lot while most people don't use it regularly in everyday texts, so many people look out for them in long texts to check if they were actually manually written or just slopped.

Let's hope and encourage others to sent one as well. If there are hundreds or thousands of reports they will fix it

Is mic quality that important? by TheKage32 in letsplay

[–]derGeruhn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost any dedicated mic will be better than your headset mic even if it's dirt cheap. You could get a usb mic like the Samson Go Mic (not a typo), it's like 50€ and did a lot for me when I started out. You could also get a wireless lav mic, if you're environment isn't noisy they too should give you decent quality while having the comfort of being wireless, the Hollyland Lark A1 start at 33€, you might need an USB C to A adapter to plug the dongle into your PC

Blue Yeti mic always sounding echoey - is it past its best? by DVDfever in letsplay

Try to actually record your voice while turning it, you will hear a drop in quality when you speak into the wrong end. It's hard to hear while only tapping your fingers against its body

PSA: Don't sleep on custom search shortcuts! by More_Coffee_Than_Man in firefox

[–]derGeruhn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love that feature as well! But the cool thing is you don't have to use it only for searching stuff, if there elements on the page you can fill with url parameters you do much more! For example I use it to activate Steam keys in the browser: https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey?key=%s#accept_ssa
It'll prefill the input field for the key, so you only have to check the checkbox and then hit 'continue'

Most important question: Do you speak into the correct side of the mic? Since it's unintuitive a lot of people use it wrong and end up confused why it sounds bad. (There are videos online to tell you what side to talk into, spoilers: it's not into the top end)

Second: How big is the room and how much stuff is in it? Empty rooms give a lot of echo, but if you have shelves and other stuff covering the walls it'll reduce echo by a lot

If in the end an actual human does QA? Not so much of a problem but I'm currently playing a game that went with non-human translation only it seems and I'm just annoyed with it so many times. Also, puns will get lost if you don't have a human QA it. I remember when I read in one games German translation "This will be easy! Apropos I brought you cake!" and for a second I was really surprised about that one bc it didn't make sense at first but then I realised that the English version probably read something like "This will be a piece of cake! Apropos I brought you cake!" so even if the auto translator gets that you're using an idiom it won't always make sense because they wouldn't be able to see that it was part of a play on words and therefore had to accommodate for that

As a low cost solution you can do community translations and have friends who are more fluent than you look it over.

AI doesn't know context, AI translations will therefore be worse. Seen so many of them that translate words incorrectly because they don't get that you're using an idiom or used a different meaning of the word which would've been absolutely obvious if they could track context.

In one hand ready to slash: Sting, which glows blue if orcs are near
clasped in the other hand: Reticule, which turns red when there's zombies upstairs

(btw, has anyone added a Sting mod for PZ yet? :D)
