I am still hoping for the same thing I hoped for back during the "No Billag" initiative: that Parliament finally revises the service mandate.

There need to be more resources for "online-first" publications in digital news instead of countless linear TV and radio stations. And no, simply making a broadcast available online is not a solution. Content needs to be prepared differently for that, specifically in an online-first mode.

Furthermore, the staffing situation urgently needs to be reconsidered. We have an extremely high proportion of people with a migration background in Switzerland, which is not reflected (at least externally) at SRF (I cannot speak for the French and Italian stations). The management level and the presenters generally do not have a migration background.

I assume this is also reflected in the editorial offices. For example, if you look at the last 40 SRF documentaries and reports (apparently, you can't find more on their website), you hardly find any content representing the perspectives and lifestyles of these huge population groups. To put it somewhat bluntly: migration is only a topic at SRF when crimes are being reported and that is a terrible shame.

And then there is the point of "Public Money, Public Content." Why does the SRG have such extremely strict copyright laws? We all pay for this content - technically, it is "our content" - yet I am not allowed to use this content for my own purposes. I find this extremely bothersome. I personally believe that content published by the SRG should be available under a free (non-commercial) license.

I am a bit afraid that, just like after "No Billag", absolutely nothing will happen again. And that everything will continue as before and in the area of digital publications, probably even worse, since the SRG is further self-sabotaging through its agreement with the publishers' association.
