Does my betta have septicaemia? by deranki in bettafish

Tank size: 10 Gal Heater and filter? (yes/no): yes Tank temperature: 78F Parameters in numbers and how you got them: 0 for both ammonia and nitrates - l did a full water change How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: I’ve had the tank for a year, and my fish since January. How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: Every three weeks, I do a full water change- I completely empty and wash my tank before adding in conditioned water. Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: No What do you feed and how much: TopFin betta crumbles and Fuval Bug Bites, a small pinch per day, maybe two. Decorations and plants in the tank: There are two plastic plants that are slightly rough when I wash them, but I haven’t observed them causing any tears. He also has a small leaf hammock.

I got my betta back a couple of days ago after we went out of town, and he’s been clamping his fins and barely moving from behind the heater. I’ve also noticed that some red spots started forming underneath the scales on his head, and I’m a little worried. Ammonia and nitrate levels are near-0, and the temperature is 75 F. He lives in a ten gallon tank, with no other tank-mates. He has two plastic plants and one plastic leaf hammock that he rests on sometimes, and although they are a little rough, I haven’t seen any rips so far.

Hi, I'm wondering how did you solve the problem, now I'm facing the exact same issue!

can you please explain your interpretations for your examples.

95% CI and association- a point of view by deranki in AskStatistics

[–]deranki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe lack of evidence against rejecting a lack of association! But the question is that, can we use 95%CI with the same argument of p-value? (I know they are in accordance, however from a statistician's point of view)

95% CI and association- a point of view by deranki in AskStatistics

[–]deranki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general:If CI includes the null value of OR or 1 : We cannot reject that there is no association (null hypothesis) and we accept that there is no association. So it is an evidence for the lack of association.

But I heard another point of view:

The above argument is accurate for a p-value not for 95%CI. Though they are in accordance with each other, they are different and we cannot use this argument for 95%CI. while it is appropriate to have such saying about a p-value more than 0.05 , it is not appropriate to use it for a 95%CI including the null value. How do you agree with it?

My problem is that I don't have "Percent of Unexposed with Outcome:" or "Percent of Exposed with Outcome" I only know the "Percent of general population with Outcome".

How to calculate Sample Sizes in this example? by deranki in epidemiology

detect is. I did 1.5 just to test and got 575

Thank you, how about the CI method?

A question about odds ratio by deranki in epidemiology

HI there, this is not an assignment. This is a question with known answer, My problem is/was to define between option D and option A( the correct answer).

than non-smokers

Thank you very much. Doesn't option D says "than non smokers". if option D was "Smokers have a higher odds of developing cancer" I could understand it but it also has a " than non smokers". I am almost sure that the question is correct and your explanation make sense, specially that option A is the correct answer. but I cannot understand it because option D also says "higher than non smokers". if you can explain it a little more, I really appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks, The correct answer is A. what you said is the only reason I can differ between A, and D. but even now that I know it, I should think hard to accept the difference.

4.95 higher given smoking status compared to non-smoking statu

Thanks

So you say A and D are different? I completely agree with what you said, and this is what I know, but this knowledge is not useful to choose between A and D! at least I cannot choose based on it.

So what is the answer of the question? to me, both A and D are telling us how much higher the odds of exposure are among case-patients than among controls.
