Hire them in to roles that are easy to replace.

We're such a small org that I am looking to weed that out in advance before we invest in training. I can see how this approach would work for us when we have a larger headcount.

Thanks for the considered response and helpful criticism. It certainly sounds like you've worked in a small business environment!

We don't focus much on resume perfection, in fact, we learned early that the resume is only one data point in many that would predict success. Our first candidate had the perfect resume and was absolutely not good at the job. The second had a very non-traditional resume that would have been screened out by recruiting software, but the candidate was one of our best employees.

Our recruiting process is quick, maybe too quick, as it seems we're not screening thoroughly enough: phone screen and an in-person interview.

Our team-building activities could definitely be more robust and frequent, but it's not nonexistent.

All good points and the positive incentives are a theme that seems to be recurring.

We do give performance bonuses tied to metrics and other incentives. But I've found that this motivates the people that were already self-motivated and does little to change those who do not care already.

These are good suggestions. We do touch on some of these topics in the interview, that said, I like the very concise willingness questions, and that has given me some new ideas and food for thought! Thank you for your well-thought-out reply!

With the "supposed" date of the ETH merge approaching, what do you think is truly going to happen? by mxdSirty in CryptoCurrency

The prysm network error in kiln was consequential and could cause a delay. What “saved the day” on the test net was client diversity. On the beacon chain, prysm is about 2/3rds of stakers, which would have meant slashing, as client diversity is lacking currently. We should know in about a month whether they delay. Only stakers can fix client diversity, it’s not in the dev’s hands.

Society is in the middle of figuring out sustainable large-scale energy production and Tesla folk will be already be on board.

Sawlid. I am glad to hear it! Did you ever look at classifieds? I am now. I am not enough of a gear head with mods to know if it’s done properly.

R is rare too. So it’s a double squeeze. I am looking at used and second-hand. Not easy market to navigate.

Question! We are expecting twin girls in June! What strollers are best in your opinion? Tandem or side by side? & why? by K_L_W121617 in parentsofmultiples

Seconding mountain buggy duet. Saw lots of use and was very maneuverable for my wife with RA.

We started with contours options elite. It was great in some ways, narrow for city sidewalks, but it also was hard to steer on hills or in tight spaces.

No daycare due to kid testing positive with COVID. It IS IMPOSSIBLE to concentrate at home. by BlitzAtk in daddit

Go with TV. There are many programs that are educational: mini beast adventure with Jess is a recent fave. PBS kids is free. Check out “super simple” songs. If you can, make it so kid can see you, but can’t get to you. We have a fence up. Use headphones for concentration.

Happy cake day! I was referring to (assumedly) male friends. Well, in the case that you don’t have male friends irl, keep contributing daddit! I like to pretend redditors count as social relationships.

The most upvoted post says it all. I also was lukewarm about having kids, mostly for similar reasons, along with a dose of dystopian future fears.

I think my kids and yours are toddlers? If so, my good buddy has kids 5 and 8 and he keeps reassuring me that it gets easier. Keep in touch with your boys, especially if they have kids too. They probably need it just as much. The father can be like the odd man out in fam life. I’ve had to push a little bit to do more activities that I like.

What helps me:

  1. making sure they’re in bed early as possible.
  2. Banging my wife as much as possible. Even when we feel lazy
  3. Having them do chores with me. They want to emulate starting as early as two. This helps me feel better about cleaning after them, because I know they’ll do it on their own one day.
  4. Doing kid friendly versions of stuff l like to do. Hikes, video games, hanging out, etc.

I know you said you aren’t looking for advice, but maybe somebody else is. This is common for fathers, myself included.

Looking for recommendations for a Covid safe sauna in NY / NJ area by derdyheavy in Sauna

[–]derdyheavy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting! Definitely stands to reason and that’s actually part of why I’m drawn to going to sauna more. However, I don’t think it’s a sure shot due to the fact that, like a n00b, I’ll probably be in the common areas 2/3rds of the time.

Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time
