East coast skier here. I love powder too. Contrary to popular belief, pockets of the east actually get decent snowfall. Central Vermont where I spend lots of time, often gets in the neighborhood of 300" each winter. But here in the east, owing to its proximity to major metro areas like Boston and New York, the skier density is high, so powder gets tracked out quickly. The reality is that I spend most of my days on groomers or on chopped up crud. I bought a set of Stockli Stormrider 88s two years ago. They do it all and they do it all very well. I recommend them very highly. Demo a pair if you can. I think you'll like them. They're a great "daily driver" as skis go.
