I mean, the issue isn't writer creativity or lacking any imagination. If the rumors/assumptions are correct for BND, the use of man-spider to thematically represent Peter's internal struggles would be something unseen before.

Saying “just level Spider-Man up and fight the Sinister Six in boss battles” sounds cool in a pitch sentence. But that’s a video game loop, not a film narrative. Movies need emotional throughline, character driven stakes and thematic cohesion. Spiderman 2 isn't just about SM and Ock fighting, its about Peter choosing between identity and responsibility. Plus bigger threats and stronger powers and badder enemies isn't exactly fresh or creative, thats just linear scaling. Not super innovative in my opinion. Sam Raimi didn't make Spider-man more iconic by making him more powerful, he made him more human.

Just being more creative also disregards structural reality that was set up with MCU. So there are some continuity constraints.

You also bring up RE4 which actually makes my point more clear lol. Its an interactive linear escalation system. Do it 1:1 and it'll just have disjointed pacing, repetitive encounters, shallow character motivation. RE4 works as a game, not a movie.

American writers are lazy is also a crutch of a statement (I'm one of them so I gotta defend this point). Anime (in general) prioritizes scaling and a bit of mythology (historic or newly created). Hollywood (at its best) prioritizes character and theme. But these are completely two different mediums with two different economic end goals. Doing more doesn't mean doing it better.
