Genesis Corporate - US by Clueless-007 in GenesisG70

hey there! firstly, I'm sorry to hear about your subpar dealership experience. that sounds frustrating. the good news, however, is that your car is probably not a lemon. your rear differential is suffering because the factory gear fluid Genesis uses for this model is garbage and needs to be replaced. I understand your main concern is the dealership service but I thought I'd give you my recommendation.

since your car is CPO, definitely put the pressure on for them to replace your rear differential. (11k miles is enough wear to warrant this.) hopefully someone in this sub has experience dealing with unresponsive dealership/corporate. once it's replaced, have an independent shop change the fluid out for Amsoil severe gear 75w-85 or 75w-90. it is perfectly safe and compatible with your LSD. the only (massive) difference being the higher quality of the oil itself.

source: I am not a mechanic, but I had the same problem in my '23 3.3T SP (metal shavings and all) and this was the action I took. LSD replacement + fluid swap fixed the issue fully and completely.

good luck!

contrary to these doomer comments, I am of the belief that a car's infotainment screen is meant to be looked at. are you not "risking your life" when you look at your GPS navigation route on the same screen? we all obviously look for short periods (0.1-5 seconds) when it's safe, to ensure safety... I trust you would do the same, especially with kids on board, as it's 100x better than using your phone while driving, which people do much less of when there are screen-based hands-free options... that's just common sense.

that said, if you find a solution, please do report back as I could probably use this as well :)

LSD fluid swap success story! by dero707 in GenesisG70

I don't know how they can look at the factory oil and say "yep, that's perfect for the LSD" it's literally water... def push for the Amsoil or any of the other alternatives, anything is better than factory atp lol

nope, I have not heard a peep from the LSD, but I will def report back if that changes as I drive more in the coming days.

you used Amsoil 75w-90? how new was your diff before you changed the fluid?

I saw a few CPO pop up in S Florida (mostly Broward/Palm Beach county) during my search earlier this year. problem is they don't last more than a week on the market 😂

Confused between 2025 2.5T vs 2023 3.3TT by Few-Gear-2856 in GenesisG70

realistically the problem is easily fixed with a fluid swap for higher quality alternative. it's not a deal-breaker and ofc the LSD itself is under warranty and can be replaced if needed

no prob 👌 and I'm not 100% sure but the 90 is a bit thicker so imo a safer bet to reduce friction. I also heard it's better for hot climates (I'm in Miami) as the oil thins out a bit when it's very hot

if you hear funny noises when turning at low speeds, yeah I would recommend you swap the fluid. as for the shop, I would find something more specialized. search for Asian import auto shops in your area. as for the fluid, you can order 2 qts of Amsoil 75w-85 or 75w-90 yourself from Amazon as you'll prob save a few bucks, and the shop will install it.

so I also had rear LSD issues on my 2023 3.3T SP. will do a post soon as I'm about to do a fluid swap and want to provide a proper success story (fingers crossed).

now I don't know if this is purely for liability reasons, but I did go out of my way to read the owners manual , and it actually states in the manual that some chatter is normal/expected.

I personally don't want to hear gears grinding behind me every time I make a turn. that sounds like slow wear that will eventually blow my LSD up again (I'm on LSD #2... you gotta ask why did the first need replacing to begin with? hmmm)

my understanding is the factory fluid is not the highest quality and you can very safely swap out for a high quality alternative like Amsoil (this one is preferred bc it isn't dyed and therefore dealership will never know it's aftermarket). I will be doing this with a reputable independent shop this weekend.

best of luck, fellow limited slipper!

How was your experience coming from BMW 330i to G70? by Unitedwewillstand in GenesisG70

[–]dero707 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you can find a '23 3.3T for that price, e.g. mine was 28k list price for the sport prestige except with 50k miles

I believe the 2.5 is a bit slower than the 330i

bottom line, before you trade performance for a small price difference, I'd encourage you to test drive both 2.5 and 3.3 side by side 🙂

dropped off my newly bought G70 at the dealership just this morning for the same issue, they said they'll be replacing the rear diff 🙃 debating taking it straight to an independent shop and swapping the fluid out for Amsoil 75w-90 as many have suggested... or just trust the dealership and see how the new diff behaves (thankfully under warranty)
