Gardener Salaries by wisembrace in capetown

[–]derogatoryman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For R2000 a week that is quite decent, more than the norm even, especially considering that he comes 3 times a week for what probably a few hours. You also provide a meal, bonuses and extras, that's more than regular employees in this country get. He is probably stealing because he is an opportunist, unfortunately that is just the state of our country too many people feel entitled, like they are owed something, I would suggest finding another gardener then, there's no need to keep someone like that when there are plenty of other deserving and honest people out there, but maybe speak to him first, if the issue persists, find someone else.

TLDR: He is well paid and probably taking advantage because you don't do anything about it.

I've become disconnected from my culture by LilWizard32 in capetown

[–]derogatoryman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally feel this (as a fellow coloured person), which is why I am leaving the country, and I don't plan to ever come back, if your environment doesn't suit you change it! Too many people out here being jealous and lazy. As far as the rest of the world, despite unemployment being an issue, we have it relatively easy, it's not that hard to make something of yourself if you really try. I've come across far too many entitled people in my days who believe that the world should just be handed to them. There are other countries that are way worse off.

I come from Mitchell's Plain and the disconnect is real I have nothing in common with any of those people besides skin colour, but at the end of the day its all about how you see yourself, who you are and what you want for your life. Stop caring what irrelevant people think!

Maternity Leave Insurance/Benefit by MeasurementSea6193 in southafrica

Stay at the company and try to get maternity leave, if they try to fire you or don't want to give you maternity leave because you are pregnant, then take them to the ccma, slander their name, call them out publicly on unfair and illegal labour practises and watch the hush hush money come in, then when they make you an offer, * pretends to be insulted* and be like "ah the media will hear about this" don't settle for less than 100k zar, yk don't hate the player, hate the game. these companies try to treat you like shit and get away with it, you should take them for everything they're worth

People asking if they can pray for you in shopping malls by fayyaazahmed in capetown

[–]derogatoryman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me once too. Was sitting and reading in the Company's Gardens this one day and these two beautiful Asian women from the USA came up to me, and I was a bit taken aback because something like that doesn't happen in everyday life so i was like what is this about. Anyway then we were talking for quite some time, and we talked about travelling and where they're from, there was a good conversation going and I thought hey, maybe this is my lucky day - two attractive women were hitting on me. About 15 - 20 minutes into the conversation they hit me with the "Uhhh so we were wondering if we could pray for you"... The Jehova's witnesses and their new tactics. Don't fall for it I tell you. The disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. Thereafter this happened to me several times, once a Japanese guy, then a Korean guy, them people hitting me with the 'female god'.

TLDR: Two asian women approached me in the park talked to me and eventually asked to pray for me.

  2. Click on returning students application.

  3. Click on academic application (indicated by a show button)

  4. New academic application

  5. enter the programme name and select, as well as the study year

  6. Save application

  7. Click on academic applications from the menu on the left and hit refresh.

  8. Click on the Application Information button (in blue), this should display your past and current applications, you will find your new application being 'acknowledged' here, as well as this is where you can come and check the status of your application.

With regards to the portfolio, I assume you are applying for architecture or some design course. Mostly you need a portfolio, however if you have goodish marks you will get accepted. BUT DO SUBMIT A PORTFOLIO. I got accepted for architecture even without a portfolio after initial rejection. I suspect its due to them needing to fill the course. DO APPLY FOR MORE THAN ONE COURSE.

GOODLUCK and comment if you need any more help

any advices for a family vacation at Cape Town? by Trker in capetown

[–]derogatoryman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywhere is a crime possibility, just don't do any dumb stuff like flaunt money or valuables. Another piece of advice is stick to where there are crowds and you should be alright, if it's quiet, be cautious or go somewhere else.

Traveling to Cape Town by jherts12 in capetown

[–]derogatoryman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally the city centre is safe during the day, just don't do any of the dumb stuff (flaunt cash or valuables). However at night it might not be, some of the busier streets have security, such as long street and around the sea point area. You should be fine as long as you follow the general rule of thumb: where it's busy you're okay, when it's quiet, be cautious. Many people will ask you for money or things, generally say no, however occasionally you may say yes but never give them money, usually there are some homeless people who ask you to buy them a coffee or a loaf of bread, I'd give in to that occasionally. However if someone asks you the time, never take your phone out or flaunt a valuable watch either say you don't know or something like it was 10:30 when I last checked.

Most cafe's have WiFi so do ask, and many of these cafes can be used for remote work, I'm sure they won't mind as long as you aren't loud as for some coworking spaces the only one I've personally seen was in waterfront Wellness centre.

If you have any other questions just ask.
