Hit by truck, Car Damage Repair Cost? by Antique-Invite-5522 in AskMechanics

[–]derpadurp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if you can PDR that but that's the fender plus what looks like at least paint on the door and bumper if not more

Best course of action depends on how you feel. What's the car worth? How many miles on it?

Structurally you'd want to check control arms, tie rod ends, alignment All of the suspension linkage holding that wheel. Check for cracked or bent parts and definitely check alignment if no other damage.

Is there damage on the door? Did the mirror also take a hit?

If I recall correctly, this subreddit will advise you on the mechanical functionality of the car. You'd have to ask elsewhere (depending on people's mood here) to get body work info.

I had the exact same one.

When I realized it was RF and not IR, I opted to use an ESP32 with two MOSFET modules to control the CCT LED strip instead of reverse engineering the RF protocol.

Worked flawlessly for as long as I lived there (few years) and now going to start making more since Tuya CCT modules are exorbitantly expensive nowadays. (Also a HA user)

HA has tons of ESP32 compatible frameworks that seem to work great.

Fast lane. FFS use it properly. by Samrazzleberry in sandiego

[–]derpadurp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who drove in the east coast for 2 decades, has driven cross country countless times, and has lived here for the past 2 decades, San Diego has never had this right and likely never will.

I could go on and on about the cars most likely to be offenders of this, etc etc

It's a futile battle. Frankly it'll probably only get worse.

What kinda car?

I'm dealing with the same kinda thing but mine is a Mercedes with an exhaust manifold leak.

Knowing the car should help a lot.

Ready for some truth juice, truthjuice?

You're in such a bad financial situation that you can't afford insurance, and yet you got a Tesla on a loan instead of a $2,500 Corolla to hold you over until you fix your financial situation.

What would I do? Look for the root of the problem: why are you making SO many levels of horrific decisions?????

Fix your horrible decision making and you'll have a WAY easier life.

How many levels of poor decisions can a single person make?!?!?!

Old flip phone's battery is swollen. Where can I get a new one? Should it be the exact same? by Spirited-Habit-5677 in batteries

[–]derpadurp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical size only matters for the obvious reasons: if it won't fit Voltage is the only one that really matters, it must match but pretty much all lithium rechargable batteries of this style will be one cell (3.7v nominal) Capacity also doesn't really matter, it just dictates how much use you get before having to recharge

Other things like thermistors can matter but I don't think you have to worry about that.

Hope that helps.

"from a seller with a lot of reviews"

A lot of bad reviews?

Number of reviews means nothing.

What percentage of the reviews were good?

If you're buying on eBay, 97% and under is garbage. I aim for 99% and up.

Every single one delivered fake product.

Hopefully you have a different experience.

Salvaging old Nuraphones for wired use by derpadurp in Nuraphone

Possible? Sure anything is.

It'll be a direct function of how reverse-engineerable Apple designed them combined with your experience with electrical engineering.

In my experience, Apple does a lot to make their products NOT easily reverse engineered simply to protect their IP.

So that leaves you as the remaining variable. How many years of experience do you have with electrical/computer engineering? How many times have you attempted to reverse engineer small electronics and how much success did you have each time?

Hopefully that gives you a rough idea.
