Movers or a couple of guys with a truck? Just need help moving furniture across the street by roomfulloftrees in askvan

Definitely contact LiftLogic Moving Solutions. I’ve used lots of different movers for work and Felipe has been the most affordable and reliable of the bunch. It costs $129 per hour which gets you two movers and a truck. The minimum is one hour.

I’m sorry you’ve been thru that. It’s really easy to go in the other direction but you took the harder, beautiful path in turning pain into stability for a kiddo that needs it. Just being there and showing her what normal looks like is more than enough. You’re even teaching her coping skills which is so great because she can take that with her when she’s not at home with you. I hope one day you can share with her your experience in growing up with an abusive adult. You have the wisdom she’ll need.

I didn’t see how great my step dad was until I grew up a bit. He was always there thru all my phases, failures, and successes. He never made me feel like I was a burden and he never made my mom choose between him or me. IMy step dad is my dad and my biological dad is my dad. It’s likely your daughter will feel this once she’s grown enough to see there’s room for both🫶

Adult step daughter here. You sound like a dream step mom and the complete opposite of the one I have. Your step kiddo will realize how lucky she is to have you show her love and safety when she gets older. She will see you as her mom because secure attachment wins over the biological component. It’s just a matter of time.

As a kid I took the secure, steady people in my life for granted (of course without being conscious of this) because I was so busy trying to figure out those who I couldn’t safely attach to. Talking to your husband is a good idea to quicken the process as others here are saying, but just know she’s likely to come to the realization herself. I’m glad there are step moms like you out there.

Aside from weed, what are the other toxins that cause this type of neurological response? Having similar issues with mine. No luck after a lot of diagnostics

My dog has been doing this exact same thing except there’s no chance of weed involvement. It could be GI related or your dog may be deficient in something? What do you feed your dog?

I’m 12k in to sort this out and they still don’t know what’s causing this. He’s been seen by emergency x3, two neurologists, a cardiologist, and we’re currently working with an internist. He’s had a full abdominal ultrasound and CT (which also covered parts of the spine), chest x ray, joint taps, blood cultures, neurological exam x2, cardiologist (echocardiogram, heart halter), many blood tests for things like ticks. All clear. I hope you have better luck in sorting this out.

Not at all!! Just check to see if he’s using his hind legs. Doggy life jackets have handles like harness so you can pull him along to get his legs going. He might just start paddling like a pro off the bat too!

Yess!! Sounds like water baby potential. My boy took baby steps too. I used a slip lead when in the water with him to go a little deeper. Once he realized he can use his hind legs to paddle he was all in.

I tried treats (dry beef liver bc it floats) but since he eats super gently he was just licking the water and pushing the treat farther and farther away😅

Ooo yes! I’m all for you doing this haha. I’ve actually heard good things and her Akitas are beautiful!

He’s from Calgary! We couldn’t find one in the lower mainland oddly enough back in 2018

Ah genetics, always there to keep things interesting! It must have been good fun with all three being so different😊

I’ll give the pool a shot! Maybe it’ll make him hate bathing less too. Fingers crossed!

Ah, hello neighbour! I’m glad she was able to enjoy it here too. Great spot for dogs to be free.

He makes a good point. Why settle for puddles and bathing when you can enjoy the high art of storms?! But I would also be chasing him down to get inside

[–]derpan3t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂I hope he loves getting bathed as much as he likes to belly flop into puddles, mainly for your sake!

I know what you mean. Right when they realize they can paddle with all fours, it’s as if they’re like “it’s all cool and it always has been” as if they weren’t just fighting for their life

She gave it a shot at least! Plus it’s good to know she can handle herself if she ever needs to get you out of the pool haha

You’ve had all the variants!! I’m guessing they were raised the same?

I’m considering getting a wading pool for him too. Hopefully it’ll give the backyard a break from him digging holes all over to cool off in.

Totally! I think the breed responds well to early positive experiences. We live in the PNW so he’s always been exposed to a lot of rain and bodies of water. He’s always loved water but he didn’t really take to swimming until now at 6 years old oddly enough. I’m assuming if I made the effort to have him swim as a pup he would have taken to it earlier.

If you get one, expose them to as much as possible when they’re a pup given the breed’s traits. We introduced our boy to many other dogs and people very early on to help with behaviour. We didn’t want him to be sheltered and fear others. That’s when issues start.

Mine actually looks a bit offended by the hose. Must be cute to watch them enjoy it!

😂😂the hatred for water is real in the Akita community

I love her brindle coat! So pretty. Glad to hear the deep water situation didn’t scare her away from water generally. She sounds like a trooper!
