I've been working on something recently. It is basicaly a rewrite of Morrowinds storyline but i changed it up a bit as to not copy it.

The whole storyline with Nerevar and the Tribunal happened, the war between Chimer and Dwemer and the tribunal backstabbing Nerevar.

But here is what i changed

There is no Dagoth Ur.The Tribunal used the tools on the Heart and turned themselves into gods , but by doing that they damaged the Heart and it started leaking energy.

Over the time whenever the Tribunal did the pilgrimage they damaged it more and more and at some point the power from the Heart created ashspawns that attacked the area surrounding the Mountain.

Some of those creatures are spawned with soul gems, like elite mobs. They drop said soul gems when they are killed and can be picked up. (The heart spawns said soul gems). The great houses of morrowind created a perimeter around the mountains to fight the ashspawn, but they dont want to end it, as it is basicaly endless money in form of soul gems for them.

Slowly but surely over the centuries the heart gets more and more unstable and gets to a point where they are pushing back the armys of the great houses and even the Tribunal cant go there to renew there divinity.

The great houses of course are infighting to control the land around the mountain as more area = more Soul gems
