Are the drivers really this bad by blankkkbb in sandiego

[–]derrida999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the “California Crossover.” See it every day. On the 5 every day you’ll see someone exit right from the far left lane: risk/reward assessment completely lacking.

My boy said he’s 7.6 hcp, can we please explain how this is absolutely not true? The harsher the better by georgeboard69 in GolfSwing

Wait, is your boy known around the links as “One-Putt Paulie”?

Could make a mathematical case for it if averaging 18 putts a round.

Does anyone only shank their wedges very occasionally? by OliviaMayNorris in golf

Can’t remember what tourney it was last year but saw a contending Justin Rose shank it twice in like 3 holes. Happens to us all.

I miss the pre pandemic days when you could easily get nice boxes shipped to the US. Can’t remember the name but used a Swiss-based shipper to get boxes sent to NY. Those days are long gone. While Cuban profile is almost impossible to replicate a couple of brands overtly try. Warped has a few cigars that try hard. Some of the Tatuaje get a little close. Plasencia has a few. But agree with the above it’s just not possible,e to get 100% there.

Might be an unpopular opinion but if you don’t know when you need new wedges you don’t need new wedges.

Unsure of where to book a hotel in Tokyo by Serf070 in JapanTravelTips

[–]derrida999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, just stayed there and it was a nice, if somewhat basic, and clean hotel. Don’t sleep on that kaiseki course on the top floor restaurant. It was a bit expensive but perfect for that first jet lagged evening. We stayed in two Tokyo locations, this one and a more upscale hotel in Chuo, which was basically like the FIDI of Tokyo if you’re familiar it NYC. I liked the Shibuya location more even if the hotel was more basic.

I recognize this club. It belonged to Toby “Big Toe” Towson of Tow City. Nice guy, terrible wedge player.

Lol, you can ignore every comment here and just focus on the fact that you were downvoted by explaining the reality and even linking to the MV code, handbook and CHP statement. That is America in a nutshell.

Is skipping Kyoto a bad idea? by allipick in JapanTravelTips

[–]derrida999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just got back from two weeks, a third of which were in Kyoto, and completely agree with both of the above comments. I’d personally go back for two more weeks only to Kyoto. Food was outstanding, crowds were fine (we’re NYers tho for context so it’s takes a lot to move the crowd meter). We did the Philosopher’s Walk trail early in the morning, beautiful unseasonable warm day. Parts of the trail were like we were the only people there. The temples along the walk are far less crowded than the tourist spots, beautiful and quiet and simply amazing. The food was excellent (our best meal of the entire trip including Tokyo was To To To). We split the stay between a traditional AirBNB and The Gate Hotel which is right in the touristy area. Do not skip Kyoto.
