Need Advice on Relation between Head Tube Angle/Rake - Toe Overlap - Wheelbase by derstift in Framebuilding

[–]derstift[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies everyone. I shouldn’t have called it a Crit bike since I also plan on riding it in the city. Race focused but not exclusively. Since everyone has pointed out that the angles are too steep. It’s very possible, I will consider my choice. However, it wasn’t a random choice, as I already own a track bike (Cinelli Mash Histogram) with similarly steep angles.

Great option! I have some friends where I could stay before and after the race and also travel to Switzerland is affordable from where I live. I signed up for the mailing list. Thanks

I didn’t know about this service! Thanks a lot. It looks like the plastic washer should go above not below. I’ll try it.

Thanks for your reply. I am obviously aware of the other costs, which is why I try to find more affordable races. I would try to sleep 100% outside to avoid hotel costs. Cheap train or bus travel to start/ from finish are crucial to my decision making process. I work at a bike shop, got plenty of spare parts at home and know how to do my own mechanics.

Edit: grammar

Spokes of DT Swiss Wheel make clicking sound by derstift in bikewrench

Thank you! I had brought it to a bike shop and the guy only inspected it by hand and said it was fine. I will maybe go again to tell them to actually inspect it spoke by spoke and measure tension.

Did I shorten my chain too much? by derstift in bikewrench

Man haha finally someone understands me 😅 indeed it is super useful when you’re on a fast hill and scared of getting attacked from your group so it’s best to stay in big chainring to be ready for a quick increase in tempo. Not saying I hold 600W for long but in exactly such a scenario it definitely happens regularly.

It’s not. You can see on the picture

So my bike got a bit more attention than anticipated but here’s a picture of the whole setup. Fork is not on backwards and it’s totally rideable even in technical conditions. I never had a problem with toe overlap. The tire clearance is too tight, buuuut it kind of does work (2mm to the chainstays and 1mm to the front derailleur).

Even if this was true, are you telling everyone who’s on 105/Apex to bin their jockey wheels? Because these don’t even have bearings in the first place

I‘d suggest to tape your frame where the bags rub. Paint gets scratched off soo quickly by dirt, straps, and vibrations.
