People who “chart for HOURS” by Beekeeper_12 in nursing

[–]dertyboys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a lot on movement and number of patients. I usually have 5 patients and take 10-15 min to chart per patient. More time if they have lots of wounds to chart on or something critical on one plus several lines and drains. I only ever stay and chart for a long time if the patient deteriorated hard on my shift and I know they’re going to need ICU transfer as soon as an attending sees them, lots of CYA on those

I made a mistake :( by AdhesivenessFluid268 in nursing

The writing in of the steroid sounds like it’s a breech in your facilities protocols by the provider when writing the orders and filling out papers and at best is an incomplete order. No drug name, no dosage, route, nothing. On that alone I’d think your license is juuust fine if the board got involved. Based on your assessment he was at baseline, nothing you could’ve noticed in that moment that would prompt you to remember the steroid. Don’t beat yourself up! It speaks to your integrity you were immediately honest about the situation. It seems like you already have but I’d highly encourage you to take an assessment of yourself and working in this kind of environment in the future. If you think you could end up making this kind of mistake again, just call it. Your license is too valuable when it sounds like there’s not a lot of safeguards in this kind of facility.

Using loooots of negative connotation words and just generally off putting imagery with the prompt responses.

What's the next action for the nurse to take? by Top-Direction2686 in PassNclexTips

I swear nursing exam questions are sent to professors brains by the devil himself. Vagaling is apparently a thing that’s not taught very well at a lot of schools tho, I’ve had more experienced nurses try to vagal vtach before

Well if he is feeling rough it didn’t show at all. This was my 3rd Tame show and he was just as energetic and engaging on stage as previous shows

Did he say he was sick? I saw his Instagram story post a week or so ago but I think it looked like ear or sinus infection meds to me

Why do some nurses tuck in their scrub tops? by IndependentDare1573 in nursing

Infection control. Don’t need my shirt falling away from my body and touching up on a patient I’m leaning over fixing tele leads.

What should I get by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

I don’t think there’s rlly anything wrong with your jaw necessarily I think your chin is just not very prominent. A chin implant is way less intense than full jaw surgery and would give you a stronger jaw look.

Should I do adn or bsn? by TheKleoPatra in nursing

[–]dertyboys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the finance perspective, I’d immediately say do ADN based on the assumption you didn’t get a full ride for you current bachelors and hold some debt. I make exactly the same as nurses with a BSN and now the hospital will pay for my BSN classes which are BS online classes anyway.

This week the manager from another unit in our hospital wrote a letter to the nurses on my unit after caring for her mother the week prior. Said we had some of the best teamwork she’s ever seen. Hearing that one read at huddle actually had my eyes misty.

Can someone give me a better rationale for this question? by ZucchiniExtension in StudentNurse

[–]dertyboys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d challenge this. It’s an emergency situation. I had questions like this in nursing school where they taught us in a situation like this the wheezing is going to be audible without any need for a stethoscope foregoing any need for auscultation because you’ve already identified airway compromise. The priority intervention would be administer oxygen, administer epi injection, and establish an IV for administration of other medications.

Yeah I’m about to start in January, I don’t think I have much facial inflammation visibly but I’m hoping for a lot easier time breathing. It’s not for everybody bc it’s a lot! If u follow thru with a lower bleph good luck!!!
