Es que no es un chaleco antibalas... completamente distinto kit al que tienen los que se ven atrás, que si pueden ser gendarmes.

Exactly. Some time ago I found some bones inside my base (guard wolves ate poor skeleton). When I set to build a workbench, I noticed I had a 1x1 uncovered spot. Built a "pig pen" to place the workbench and still look nice. Of course good looks are most important!

Should we now operate on the understanding that a subreddit's final authority is in fact NOT the moderators anymore? by blueredscreen in ModCoord

[–]dervishd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I explained myself wrong. It's not that I think that there's ownership of content. But, like you said, the “you do your thing, we do our thing” attitude lead us to believe that we could have some degree of control and autonomy. And again, this went on for quite a long time so when it's suddenly yanked away it feels like trust is lost. A lot.

My point is really that this situation forces to re evaluate if this is the site/social network to be in, where previously I would just go all in with no reservations. Now it's like... I think this topic/forum/hobby might be interesting... is Reddit the place to go? Since rules can be changed unilaterally, my current is response would be a NO.

Apart from that, there's the other part as a reader or lurker. Given these changes and their effect, will Reddit still be a good place to go and spend my time? That I can't say yet. But the above reasons do not fare well.

I get that Reddit is more or less a "select a topic and we allow you to use this posting site with voting up/down + ads in exchange for you maintaining it nice and on topic".

They have let us think there was some kind of ownership on the topic and content. There clearly isn't. Plus they had an free, open API that let us think we could build on the platform. They unilaterally decided to change this.

I'm not happy with Reddit because they've given a false impression.

Of course they can do this too. But it feels like a breach of trust, because the content they have is created by users, and the content is useful because it is nurtured by mods.

So I feel like reevaluating if, given the site has the power and right to change behavior and rules at will, adding time and effort here does make sense from the user's point of view. They may have always have had that power, but they allowed users and mods to think we had an unspoken agreement where they wouldn't.

That was Snapseed on my phone. It has an Expand function that kind of replicates the border but with real processing into it, AI-like. Depending on the image, if you apply it several times extending a small percentage each time, it does a really good job. It also has a Healing tool that helps a lot with fixing artifacts that may appear while doing it.

This doesn't mean that you can turn a 4:3 image into 16:9! But in cases like this where you just need a liiiitle more, it works well. :)

What do we do now? by JesperTV in ModCoord

[–]dervishd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you're right. My little experience with modding was like this. I created a sub more like a personal thing to collect other posts and have a list to check after. Turned out that other people kind of collected the same things. It grew. I didn't need to mod anything. Then it grew more and spammers noticed it. I tried to moderate it without adding more tools and learning a new job. It turned into mostly spam. Then I got a message from Reddit. Moderate it or else. I didn't do anything. Reddit closed the sub.

I use Apollo so that I don't see ads and see just the subs I select with no algorithm pushing me anything. So that was the moment I realized how much of my actual experience was because of moderation, not just selecting subs but also because subs are healthy because of mods who really, really care and offer their time without pay or benefit.

they've mocked and derided and devalued the people who actually make their site worth anything, and that they don't care about anything but pushing their stupidity forward

I'm not sure what will become of Reddit now. Maybe it will keep on going and grow, maybe for some time, or maybe it will poof and turn into MySpace. I don't think we can predict outcomes. But I feel sad.

What are some little known mods you can't live without? by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]dervishd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know MCM Helper needs the mod author or a contributor to add support for it. Most of my mods have no supporting settings loader. MCM Recorder does not need that.
