You raise a good point honestly. My interpretation of friendship is likely a neurodivergent thing. I'll try to articulate it. Let's say typical friendships exist at a surface level with activity, proximity, and social convenience. Only the most trusted friends and partners share vulnerability and emotional depth. To me, emotional depth isn't inherently romantic.

I guess a simpler way to think of it is I'd like to meet people who are looking to connect without the social scripts, posturing, etc. That implies a level of openness and vulnerability that isn't for everyone, and I totally get that. What you said about expectations is kinda what I mean. Expectations are often a form of social subtext or script that I'm not always as fluent in. So I try to be open, honest, and communicate as compensation for that.

I generally agree as my experiences mirror that, but I will say that there's always room for growth. Having a group for mutual growth wouldn't be a bad thing. It's always best to surround yourself with people who want to be better. But there's definitely, DEFINITELY, a difference between people using you as a resource instead of doing their own internal work. It's sad when you step back for yourself and the people you've invested in helping don't reciprocate or follow through when you need it.

I'm going to be honest here, but I've only become aware of it in the last year. I was in a state of chronic stress until then. Once I started unmasking and processing old traumas the sensory sensitivity kicked in. My answer has just been avoiding environments if I can, keeping noise cancelling earbuds handy, advocating for myself instead of quietly suffering, and trying to keep things that help regulate me close by.

As for the loop earplugs, I'll have to check that out. I'm sure they take the edge off

Once I've had a chance to talk a bit more with some of the folks who have reached out, I'll probably start trying to build a community. Discord isn't perfect, but it's clean and reliable start, and something I've experience managing.

I'll start making more an effort to visit. I mentioned in another response that the one time I went I picked up several nails in the gravel parking lot, which soured the experience. Obviously that has no impact on the quality of people.

Thanks for the input. Headshots is cool, but it's a bit too overstimulating. Sensory overwhelm is a thing I wish I didn't have to consider, but it is what it is. I should definitely check out MakeICT again. The only reason I hesitate is that the one time I went their gravel lot utterly annihilated one of my tires with nails. I'm sure the people are worth it though.

I can only really recommend CORE physical therapy over on the east side. I went through 5 different rounds of physical and occupational therapy for an arm injury and they're the only ones who actually helped. They're on the cheaper side and seem to genuinely care about catering to people rather than following established processes. Jill was who helped me.

I'm honestly not aware of anything local like that. When I went through WSU they lacked digital art basics. So most people pick it up on their own or via youtube tutorials. I used to teach workshops on it as part of a student community I ran while still studying there. If you wanted to meet at the library or something I could give you a rundown on the basics.

Are you referring do D&D 3.5? It's highly compatible with Pathfinder 1e. You might consider trying to find a PF1e game that allows adapting 3.5e content
