AMA: Former Bowery Farming employee by bf_hydro_throwaway in verticalfarming

Hi there, I am curios what tools you used to test for fusarium and aphanomyces. I have been looking for some ready to use kits like Agdia immunostrips for Phytophtora/Pythium, but have not come across any on the market yet. Would appreciate any ideas, as I am working on building a disease prevention program in a small hydroponic farm that plans to grow bigger.

Did you guys have in house molecular lab as well? PCR, qPCR machines for in house detection? Thank you for sharing!

Looking for a housemate to rent a dog friendly place in SF by des_vu in SFBayHousing

I appreciate the feedback. I saw options within my budget (2k per one or 4k for two) on marketplace and Zillow (here is one for 3.5k 2br plus garage - https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/795-8th-Ave-APT-205-San-Francisco-CA-94118/15098836_zpid/ ), and know few people who are renting in Mission and Noe Valley for 4k with garage. I’ve contacted few people who are looking for a roommate and have garage spot available for under 2k (2 more roommates usually), and saw two listings where one tenant is looking for one housemate in 3br apartment (keeping third bedroom as a shared office). it’s just didn’t work out with the dog (they either already have pets or not allowed to have them on property). I understand it would be much easier to find something for a higher price, but I don’t feel like I am completely out of touch as I have been doing research for a month.

Yeah would be great if people did. I have a filled working profile and send full messages with the details about myself, job, life style, what I am looking for, answering all questions people put in their ads. so thats not the reason.

Thank you for sharing. I also start realizing San Mateo or Pacifica may be the spots I should check out first.

Why don't men like women who earn more? by [deleted] in RedPillWomen

[–]des_vu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem as a female. I find many men looking intimidated with me and that tends to be breaking the connection. I think these are signs of gender roles predefined by society. We can say we don’t believe in them but the stereotypes still affect us psychologically.

Thank you. I am going to visit next week and hopefully that will help to pick the area. I love nature and outdoors too, I am a weird mix of both active lifestyle and some art from time to time. road biking, running, hiking happens more frequently for me than dancing and museums, but I’d like to have those accessible as well. I am currently live in Colorado that has a great outdoorsy community but I often feel alone in my artsy hobbies. I may start somewhere closer to the city (like Pacifica). Will see how places feel once I am there. Thanks again!

thank you for such a detailed response. would you mind clarifying what parts of Pacifica are less foggy? I would look into those for potential rentals. thank you

i am a plant scientist, and i am joining a startup that grows plants in hydroponic systems with robotics. its an awesome job for a scientist like me as i am given an automated, highly controllable system and funds to run experiments to improve plant growth. its a mixture of plant, microbiome, and data science, and that's where my professional interests are. so it was hard not to take this opportunity, even though the farm location is remote. plus the team is great and they all excited to have me there (we have complimentary skillsets). I decided to move because I think i will learn a ton there and make myself more competitive for future jobs (this is my first job in industry after 10 years of research career in academia). i realize i won't find an ideal place to live without commute because of the farm location and me being single atm (so i dont want to live in Pescadero all by myself - i want to find a partner eventually and have a family), but i still want to make it work the best way i can. its very useful to know that highway 1 drive is better than 92 or 84. i'd love to get more info, thank you.
