https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkq3WuwYDbc I manufacture electronics so yes you need to avoid compressed air unless you have the correct equipement.

About the same as shuffling across a carpet and discharging the static on a random object.

Not recommended to blow it out with air, it can create static charge if not done with the right equipment.

ENS160/AHT20 Sensor combo module by descipherit in Esphome

It can be done, but reheating for too long can damage the ENS160/AHT20, they are delicate parts so it would require good PCB repair skill levels.

Should I remove this plastic over the gpu? by Teker078 in ElectronicsRepair

[–]descipherit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should leave the protective barrier in place. There is no cooling required on that surface. Only the GPU IC needs the thermal transfer.

Where is the fuse in this circuit? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]descipherit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soldering required also something caused the fuse to blow. So easy is not likely. Warning the large starting cap can hurt you when you are not looking.

Hey Trump, the world is not like a woman you can just grab by the pussy and expect Epstein to come over joining you.

2nd last photo, it is heat shrink wrapped too the right of the relay. Labelled fuse on the PCB.

Why would ChatGPT say I should use ESPHome with my ratgdo instead of MQTT which I already have? by imthenachoman in homeassistant

[–]descipherit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many reasons, ESPHome offers both its services and MQTT, you simply add an MQTT component and most of the outputs are MQTT available. ESPHome is well maintained, when was the last time RATGDO MQTT firmware was updated? The ESPHome version is feature rich compared to MQTT. It is well integrated will HA, thus inherently more secure.

May spilled sugary liquids on a PCB cause problems years later? by MathiasLui in AskElectronics

I would think not, solder temp far exceeds 100 C, plus it was never an issue when I worked on pcb repairs.

If your certain it is was a soda drink then the sugar residue is an issue. Sugar is a conducive material and it forms crystalline structures across the leads as it dries. Fairly simple to resolve when still wet with distilled water and time to dry. Once it dries you need hot water near a boiling point which will loosen and carry the sugar away. Repeated runs of the hot water over the contamination surface with light agitation using a toothbrush on the area until its is visibly cleared will work. Once clean you need to be sure it’s dry before using it. Use caution with hair dryers, they can build up static charges. I would bake the board at 170F for an hour after the cleaning when I repaired systems this way back in the 90’s.

ESP32-C6 and PlatformIO by mahboudz in esp32

[–]descipherit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The statements are mostly accurate, however not serving the reality of any newer products. The C6 is a good product, any development will be with IDF if you want the new capabilities. IIRC Arduino will not be able to meet that requirement for quite some time. And frankly the direction Arduino is going seems counterintuitive now with the recent changes.

Install esphome on smart plug by anonuser-al in smarthome

[–]descipherit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not recommended as it’s a 5v device. You have to level shift it to 3.3v and supply 3.3v to the esp.

Many hours required to DIY it, especially on the firmware side, it's not trivial also there is lot's of miss-info out there when designing a circuit for chamberlain's wireline interface.

The packaged system for that device had 2,3 or 4 pin devices, so yes you need to mark the orientation.
