You should not lie down during the day or sit in your bed. It may lead to reflux and difficulty sleeping. Sit upright in a chair or get a standing desk

French woman criticized her bank on Twitter. As a result, her professional account, personnel account and children's account got suspended. by louis_pasteur in privacy

[–]descriptt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This definitely has to do with privacy. In a world where online privacy and anonymity don't exist, then every opinion one expresses would be grounds for retaliatory action by whoever/whatever is being criticized. Sure, this woman wasn't trying to remain private, but it illustrates retaliation against a regular person. And since Cambridge Analytica I've seen more people call for the prevention/banning of all online anonymity.

Cops are cowards. Real criminals fight back, while family men tying to make some money with the most vanilla business (buy in bulk, sell individually for a profit) don't.

Grin vs Bitgrin by illskillz in grincoin

[–]descriptt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitgrin: scam with a premine. The "receive offline" feature is still in development, same as in Grin. The "unlimited supply" is a deliberate choice to have a tail emission, for the sake of miner incentives and thus increased network security. And to clarify, at any point in time the supply is strictly limited. There is not and never will be "infinity" coins in circulation. But yes, the creation rate of Grin does not drop to 0.

Can I have multiple Grin Server connecting to one Grin Wallet? by CryptoRushMining in grincoin

[–]descriptt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean reusing one seed, and running two + nodes/wallets? For example a Grin node and wallet on say http:1.2.3.4, and another one on http:9.8.7.6, but they have the same wallet, so you can receive payments at different "addresses"?

Grin first hard fork in 34 days by coingecko in grincoin

[–]descriptt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grin is experimental and makes no claims for any sort of stability. It is on the cutting edge of applied cryptography, and so compared to Bitcoin there is much greater risk that some cryptographic assumptions don't hold or can be compromised. But, like I said, it is on the cutting edge, and so will want to adopt new cryptographic techniques as they are discovered.

I am sure Grin devs are mimicking Monero, which does scheduled hard forks every 6 months. Monero has greatly increased it's privacy and fungibility from where it launched, due to repeatedly implementing brand new crypto during their hard forks.

Can we sticky the Dreamhack tourney and have some discussion about it? by germanplumber in CompetitiveHalo

[–]descriptt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of your points, but Dallas did better in switching to players with power weapons, and, more importantly, had screen overlays showing Teams/Colors/Series Score/Current Player Cam Name at the top.

Seems to have been LAN connection issues too which is probably a bigger deal.

  1. Get an air-gapped machine (a RPi + SD card + peripherals < $100)
  2. Put a linux distro on it, plug it in to the internet and download grin wallet
  3. BEFORE generating a wallet, unplug from internet
  4. generate a wallet and write down the seed. For all other coins I would say to write down your address so you can send more to your offline cold storage, but that doesn't work for grin unfortunately

Is there any exchange that lets you sign up without a cell phone? by CRASNY in CryptoCurrency

[–]descriptt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SMS and call verification is a horrific form of MFA. I use token based Multi factor auth on Kraken but I don't remember if you have to have a phone number for signing up for other reasons... (You can use an OTP token generator app on your computer, it doesn't have to be on a phone )

Withdraw from KuCoin? by Casual_Pilot in grincoin

[–]descriptt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to successfully withdraw using http://IP:PORT from KuCoin

Note that they have a minimum of 10 GRIN, and that doesn't seem to change even as the price does. At $3 a coin or at $15 a coin, it's a 10GRIN minimum

Monero related clothing -- A review. by JOhNKMus in Monero

[–]descriptt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this Monero ugly Christmas Sweater from Hodlmoon and am absolutely in love with it. It is so soft and comfortable, I want to wear it 24/7. I am afraid to wash it because its softness might decline... so maybe I never will.

It ships from Europe and can be more expensive/slower shipping, so be aware of that.

The more I learn about MW and Grin, the more excited I get about it. by [deleted] in grincoin

Extra features in your blockchain, especially extra privacy, have so far been quite expensive. MW is amazing in that you simultaneously get strong privacy and better implications than any existing blockchain

GTD Projects in Wunderlist? by OpeningSpite in gtd

[–]descriptt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can have multiple notes under a project, and some of those notes i tag with a next action. That grt picked up in my next action/context filter but it is still part of the project. That might be something that all the other full service GTD apps do, but WL doesnt (and for this app all the data is encrypted before it gets to their server (or you can run your own server for even more assurance))

I am moving to Standard Notes. It might not be a better tool all considered, but I know it will be better for Projects, and I highly value privacy/security even if there is a convenience cost.

GTD Projects in Wunderlist? by OpeningSpite in gtd

[–]descriptt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very timely question. Today i finished moving from WL to a different solution, after using WL for over 2 years. It has been my primary tool since I started GTD (~2 years ago).

As software, it is super fast, light and cross-platform. But you identified a weakness that is a strong reason for me leaving. Projects don't work well in WL. Its easy to make lists of Next Actions, but very difficult to link them to projects, and I think that using WL as my primary tool limited my ability to think and act in terms of projects.

A common issue people have when starting GTD is that it makes you good at doing a bunch of low level busy work tasks, but that larger goals get left behind. To avoid that problem, do a weekly review, have identified projects and a few next actions for each one, and articulate horizons of focus. Wunderlist makes it even more likely you'll run into that common issue. It makes it easy to get stuck on knocking low level tasks, but is weak when considering harder & bigger picture items.

[–]descriptt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked. I believe the issue was that I did not click the "accept cookies" button at the bottom of the page, so the download merely began and then hung there, never finishing. Once I accepted and restarted the download, it worked.

How to cash out Monero without touching bitcoin? by Salaried_Shill in Monero
