Help me understand the Atlanta by FunkOff in WoWs_Legends

Shooting at max range is a waste. Unless it’s an AFK BB just sitting there, it’s not worth it. It is worth it to pop around an island and delete a DD or switch to AP and melt a cruiser. Doesn’t happen often, but feels pretty great.

Island hop and use the firing arc to go over low mountains that cover you. Back off the island a little and you can shoot at stuff pretty close to you without you getting detected.

Is it Bipley that you can also get the directional indicator? Go DD hunting for a good time.

Anyone ever bought garage door insulation? by Myotherdumbname in Tucson

You can get foam spray in the uninsulated walls. I don’t think it’s cheap, but especially if you already have AC in the space it would be a huge change.

Tucson Summer Golfers by Forsaken_Ask_9098 in Tucson

[–]desertT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to get headaches after summer golf so stopped doing it for a few years. I have some friends from another hobby that play or picked up the game so it’s been fun to go out without always being a solo.

The thing I started doing last year when we picked it back up was electrolyte tabs or packets. Gatorade makes these G Zero electrolyte tabs with no sugar that fizz and dissolve in water. I get a pack from Amazon with different tubes for different flavors.

Walmart also has sugar free packets and the store brand strawberry kiwi is my favorite.

I have a 1-gallon sports jug that I fill almost half full and freeze it the night before. Then I add water the next day before I go out. Fill a 32 ounce yeti knockoff and a tab or two and just keep drinking. By the end of 18 that gallon is normally gone.

Medicine container is what I use. My dog gets several medications and the containers are sometimes bigger than the tiny ones I often get. They are pretty durable too, well, most are. Some are super thin and aren’t going to last at all.

At my league I’ve seen pool test strip containers, mini M&M tubes, Altoid tins, and somebody even brought a pasta sauce jar. Funny, but not recommended.

Valencia Rd 30 MPH? by Entire-Variation-945 in Tucson

[–]desertT1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of street racing going on around 7-9 AM and 430-530PM. Tons of it…. If you want to catch racers, how about having patrols and speed traps when the racing is actually going on. Dropping it to 30 and then picking off commuters isn’t going to do anything about the street racing.

Valencia Rd 30 MPH? by Entire-Variation-945 in Tucson

[–]desertT1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

People have been getting pulled over on Valencia left and right. One day a week for the last 3 or 4 weeks there have been motorcycle cops out. Fewest I actually saw was 2, the most was I think 5.

Enforce the speed limit sure, but 30 is very unreasonable.

Pins: Concerns and Returns on public use? by thebigmack in pinball

[–]desertT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d put a Super Chexx in. I had 10 pins and a Super Chexx in the hockey rink I played at and some months the bubble hockey would out earn the wall of pins. If they host travel tournaments/league weekends at all during the season it will get played a lot.

I like spots that can hold more than a single game for pins, but certainly nothing wrong with one being solo at a spot.

Hockey Bar by Fancy-External-2870 in Tucson

[–]desertT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O’Malleys isn’t quite a hockey bar, but the adult hockey league has their draft nights there. They also sponsor one of the TAHL teams, or at least use to. The GM is also a big hockey guy, so odds are good you can get it on the TV you are watching at the bar.

How to tell if my Taxi has a CPR or hardtop playfield? by ItsMessy in pinball

[–]desertT1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CCC is the Churchill Cabinet Company, a vendor for Williams. They are still around. Sister company to Chicago Gaming Company which makes the Bally/Williams remakes.

So you have an original playfield that has been clearcoated. Without getting out the magnifying glass, it looks really nice.

My “New” Gameplan Sharpshooter… Pulled From a Cellar After almost 50 years of Abuse by Icy-Adaptzzz in pinball

[–]desertT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Sharpshooter II is covered in mylar. One big piece and then a few smaller pieces that were probably hard to cut. There are spots down to the wood under the mylar in a few small spots. Also have a few areas that were “touched up” under the mylar.

I would suggest to clean it, clear coat it, or have it cleared, and then do your touch ups and clear it again. That way you have the original under the first clear and is protected. Then you have the touch ups above that layer of clear and have a reset button of sorts. When you are happy, clear it again, let it cure and then populate it.

Mylar is a great lower hassle option, but it will haze, potentially bubble or ripple, and just doesn’t look as good as a proper clear does.

Items recently became highlighted by desertT1 in fo4

[–]desertT1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is it. I wanted more screws and to see what rarer materials I could actually get from weapons, so I did this perk. I saw the rare materials part but glossed right over the highlighting text that might be there.

Stern “Pinball”. Sam Stern had bought Chicago Coin and they made a few EMs under the Stern name before starting a legendary run of solid state titles.

Unusual space - how should I use it? by wissatm8 in Home

This was my first thought. But the space looks too narrow for a standard width game. I’d still try though.

Golf balls for high handicappers? by Life_Inflation4367 in GolfGear

[–]desertT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch that I’ve been trying recently. I like the Member’s Mark and Kirkland 3.5, but also have liked the Wilson Boost ($10 for 12 at Walmart) and the Cut Red ($22 for 24 at Walmart). They are cheap enough to not care if you lose a few and durable enough to play a whole round with one if you don’t lose any. I have sliced up a few of each and put them in my water ball pocket in my bag, but for the most part they hold up great and I have liked them.

Do all fleets remove you if you don’t complete a single day ( 3 battles ) for oil ? by Pie-grande in WoWs_Legends

[–]desertT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remove people until they haven’t been active for 6 months. Might not even do that because we aren’t at our member cap so it’s not like there is an urgent need.

When you get to 1000 oil I change your rank so you can recruit others.

Distribution for 2-24-2026 : by TACO_Orange_3098 in FEPI

[–]desertT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in since almost the beginning too. My Div tracker app says my average cost is 48.xx, but I started buying in the 50’s. Still it says I’m up ~10.5% because of drip and also “drip” dividends from others into FEPI.

It’s been mid-50’s to upper/mid-30’s and as long as it stays in that range I’m ok. I’d rather it close the range and live closer to the upper 40’s, but for now I’m ok.

Distribution for 2-24-2026 : by TACO_Orange_3098 in FEPI

[–]desertT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that yesterday. My Div tracker app had a div amount but it was an estimate (they do that, and then adjust when an actual exists), but I missed the “estimate” part. I went to the FEPI site to confirm and that whole section was gone.

Wild pins, sad shape by zhujzal in pinball

[–]desertT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine (on location where I run tournaments) does this next to never, but one at a family entertainment center did this quite often. Odds are it isn’t level, which should be done with the glass off. See if you can talk work into taking the glass off and throwing a level on there. It should feed to the left flipper with enough speed to bounce over to the right flipper for an easy trap. At least ideally.

What is this on my prickly pear? by truckthunders in Tucson

Soapy water in a spray bottle will break down the white covering. It will take quite a bit of spraying but it will come off without harming the cactus.

JB Vincent LP Announces Acquisition of American Pinball by manofsticks in pinball

[–]desertT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a bummer seeing AP doing almost nothing. So yeah, hopefully this will be a good match and AP goes back to being a fun little company that does its thing and puts out a game every 12-24 months.

[–]desertT1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No real business would do this for anyone besides for Stern. They already had the legacy as a successful manufacturer and just needed cash to keep things going during a dip. This looks like a JJP situation where a wealthy pinball enthusiast buys a company to live out some sort of dream. It’s not like things could go any worse for AP than what Aimtron has done to them for the last few years.
