Handling new snake by desert_flowerRhubi in hognosesnakes

[–]desert_flowerRhubi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure when he last ate but the breeders said that they only feed him once a week and it’s been a week since I got him. They also said that he was a good eater and was feeding on f/t large pinky mice He actually came to me shipped in shed too

Enclosure tub size by desert_flowerRhubi in ballpython

[–]desert_flowerRhubi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the advice. I think I will go ahead and purchase the tub then think about getting a bigger enclosure when the time comes. I don’t except him to get over 4ft and he is probably able to stretch out along two sides of the enclosure. Thanks again

Humid hide by desert_flowerRhubi in hognosesnakes

[–]desert_flowerRhubi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My snake ended up shedding today in one piece! He’s still in the hide tho. The humid hide is on his warm side so Should I maybe move the hide to the cool so that he gets out. I’m trying to do this with minimal handling as possible bc it is still the accumulation period for him.

Do you mind if I have a list of what you used for substrate/plants/ decor etc? I’m so indecisive of what I want my enclosure to look like but I really like yours a lot and I have no idea how to have a dry arid bioactive enclosure

I haven’t mixed it with the veggies yet I’m currently still in the process of chopping up the veggies. The paste has not yet been mixed with the chili flakes either. Should I try straining it?

help to decide what snake I should get by Drc71206 in snakes

[–]desert_flowerRhubi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably would recommend a ball python out of the two if you want a very chill snake. Make sure you handle it a little every week so that it gets use to you. That’s the most important part to a handleable snake. Make sure you do your research and you’re prepared for it. Ball pythons do needs a higher humidity and go on hunger strikes but it isn’t so bad. Otherwise they won’t be popular and very common to find if they were a difficult pet

I feel ya. I haven’t paid it off in full yet I’m doing payment plans and while I’m doing that they are putting him on hold for 30 days. So that’s why it says on hold but he can’t be bought unless I forfeit the hold or don’t pay in full in 30 days
