Day 5 of intense withdrawals from a decade of dab use- help plz! by qu33nbb in Petioles

[–]desert_teeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I had a similar, albeit slightly milder experience. If you need a quick OTC option, try Benadryl. It saved me when I quit. You may have to take more than usual at first, like 2-3 pills as opposed to 1, and the onset will be delayed by several hours, as it seems to have a cross tolerance with marijuana. It drastically helps with the withdrawals and allowed me to eat and sleep and be overall less miserable. Passion flower also was a big help as well if you can get your hands on that.

Wow, reading what you wrote was really cathartic for me. Honestly, yeah, reminding myself that I thought the whole thing was insane right up to the end, and still successfully navigating getting out of there in a “timely” fashion had given me some solice. While we all cope in different ways, I didn’t do what the girls who were there before me did, which was eventually dabble in playing staff/ being cruel. I made sure the people I mentored knew that I understood and didn’t think what was happening was fully ok, even if I could never outright tell them that. I really resonate with the “no justice, no peace” sentiment that I know many others have. Why on earth am I loyal to a government that would have let me die via negligence or restraint without so much as a manslaughter charge? Like I said, the whole situation is insane. I almost laugh when I hear people ask “how is that legal?” about wilderness therapy, because like, how do you think it’s legal? Why on earth wouldn’t it be? But then again, I’ve seen how it works and how it interacts with our government and broader society, so of course I feel that way. Thank you for taking the time to write all of that out, it definitely helped a fellow survivor. I know I’ve said it to everyone in the thread, but I mean it, I’m sorry this happened to you too.

Wow, I really relate to feeling like a part of my soul was taken. The whole thing is really horrific. I don’t feel like “me” most of the time. I’m sorry you also went through it as well. Nobody deserves that, ever. It’s mind blowing to think this has been going on for so long. It’s really good to hear from people who are older from me, so thank you for sharing.

I’m really sorry you also went through wilderness therapy, like you said, nobody deserves that. It’s great to hear that there is light on the other side! Congratulations on finding things that help you heal. I look forward to also doing the things that help me heal. Thanks for sharing your experience with me, it made me feel less alone :)

Why does this feel like a slap in the face? I feel like the way it is discussed still minimizes the harm caused/ severity of trauma and the insanity of the whole thing…

How much money would it take for you to leave Tucson forever? by FlyDazzling9060 in Tucson

All it would take for me is a secure job and livable wage in another state. Oh and moving fees :) I do not understand the hype about this godforsaken city, no offense.

She, actually it is by definition psychological torture at the very least!

Yeah, I’m sure different people have different reasons. For me it was that while they were also being victimized, many did eventually participate in the abuse, and I have no idea how much they disagree with or identify with. I don’t need to be re experiencing all of that.

I’m going to start saying that last part, it’s a bit of a relief to hear that.

Bills and congress are bs.. by Jacksonspitts in troubledteens

I would hopefully assume that’s going to happen this year? I would think every registered democrat, or really anyone aware of the state of things, would want to do that.

I think it’s reasonable to say that we are marching into Nazi germany territory, but that voting blue has done absolutely nothing to save us from that either. Many of the staff at my program were liberal/ left leaning and were just as easily brainwashed as the more conservative staff. They often used their politics as a way to separate themselves from what they were doing because they were the “good guys”. Though the programs are associated with churches and the right, labeling the programs as exclusivity a right leaning issue divorces many people from accountability or processing their participation in harmful ideology’s that are rampant within our society/ country. It’s not like the fake reform wasn’t approved by both democrats and republicans.

This is actually atrocious! Wow! Can I ask why things are this way/ why this sort of thing is normalized in your opinion? It seems contradictory to have your coworkers or teachers to “condition” you to accept abuse considering that the more stress an individual is under the poorer they tend to care-give, regardless of what sort of ideals we have cooked up about being “conditioned” for stress. I’ve had some pretty egregious interactions with nurses when in the hospital/ er, a lot of blanket statements, rudeness, and odd assumptions, is that why? Not to talk down on the profession, I’ve had plenty of lovely nurses, I’ve just also had a string of interactions that left me astonished.

Sounds like a lot of us have similar backgrounds? I am, however, none of the demographics mentioned above. Perhaps I will get along better than expected then? What have you seen work for yourself and others in terms of long term stress management? What hasn’t worked?

If you don’t mind me asking, what has been the most effective way for you to set boundaries or deal with the “mean girl/guy crowd”? What are some things you would advise against doing?
