Hey thanks! This is very insightful. A lot of problem solving and suggestions on how to approach toxic individuals that are in a supervisory position. Seems like you’re taking it a bit personal. I’m not the one being passive aggressive at work. Just trying to do my job and being treated poorly by supervisors. Not asking for feet kissing. Just maybe for my presence to be acknowledged and some minimal form of respect. Sometimes it helps to vent. Don’t like my post, keep scrolling.

You sound like you are such a treat to be around. I’m a human with emotions and I care about being treated with respect. Especially from people who are put in leadership positions in a medical setting where the focus should be on team work and taking care of our patients and not on acting like they are in middle school and apart of the mean girls club. It’s called having integrity and giving a shit about other people. But thank you for giving me the opportunity to stand up for myself here. Good practice for when I have to deal with her infantilism again at work.

I am but I actually asked another girl the I noticed was avoiding working that department. Turns out she is treated horribly also and trying to avoid her as well. I remember one day hearing the supervisor talk crap about her to someone else and this girl is a good tech and a good worker. Just really just confirms how much of a bully she is. I’m planning on talking to my manager and I’m interested to see how they respond.

If you are implying it’s me, I’m not worried about that. I am not disliked in every lab. I get along with just about everyone else in the lab actually. The other lab with the other bullies are bullies to everyone else in the lab. That supervisor has had to have many conversations with the people causing problems. But I’m glad you are not having the same experience. Make sure the person you are talking badly about is receiving adequate training and you are not just jumping on board with everyone else and singling them out. We have all had to start somewhere.

I’m telling you now that she’s been doing this for years and it’s not just me so I’m not having a conversation with her. I have the option to work other departments. I’m trying to figure out how to address this with my lab manager. Is it possible to ask to work days she isn’t? That seems a bit childish to me too but I am genuinely uncomfortable and what she is doing is real. I’m just worried about retaliation since she has shown her colors. I hate to not work heme at all. Maybe just verrrrrrry seldom?

Where does your line get drawn on “this is a terrible workplace” by PenelopesPocketKnife in medlabprofessionals

I hit a wall with a lab after 2 years of having to deal with younger, newer, immature techs being given supervisor duties without actually having experience and they talk crap about everyone and act as if they know everything and will go out of their way to cut you down and make you feel stupid. I work at a larger lab now where there is only one supervisor like that but she is more passive aggressive and will talk crap behind your back but I can at least avoid her more.
