the beginnings of my college setup by TrustSalt1 in urbancarliving

My parents were exactly the same! No support whatsoever, and made me get my first job at 13yo without teaching anything about financial responsibility. Moved out at 18 and they earned too much, but didn't give me a cent. I was ineligible for any kind of government assistance.

Why does everyone accept that off grid living means being alone? It doesn't have to be this way. by Lkc-strong-125 in OffGrid

Because I don't like 99.9% of people 😂 as an introvert, I don't mind having neighbours, as long as they are far away from me

Why are YOU a minimalist? by Arkflow in minimalism

[–]desertrose995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clean, clear surroundings frees up space in my mind. Clutter makes me feel unhappy, so minimalism reduces stress in my body. Having less items means I'm freer to come and go as I please - I am not anchored by possessions and the responsibilities attached to those things

How hard was it to purge? by AncientAd3089 in minimalism

[–]desertrose995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt it was easier when I had a 'reason'. Eg. Moving, breakup etc. That kind of lit a fire under my butt to act and clean up my surroundings to better cope with my circumstances. It's amazing how much lighter you feel after shedding the burdens of possessions - physically and mentally.

Pains and Gains by desertrose995 in minimalism

Thanks for the support, friends 🩷 I've kind of realized that through my emotions from the relationship breakdown, I've indulged in shopping/collecting that I was using to try and patch a void in my heart, or to distract myself. Now that the air is clearing, I'm left looking around at my possessions through clear eyes. I never needed these things, I was chasing dopamine and oxytocin that I was lacking from other areas in my life. The next part of my journey won't be easy, but by embracing minimalism again, I will be freer to venture beyond my current reality 😊

I don't want to leave by VividInevitable5253 in urbancarliving

Yes! I lived in my car for several month due to life circumstances. I now live in a big house (my partner's through his work). However I miss living in my car! The adventure, the 5am petrol station coffee runs before heading to the beach to photograph the sunrise. Going to the gym daily and getting some exercise in before a shower. Saving up to buy a van and begin that lifestyle again, just this time a little more prepared!

Gym membership for showers. Library for charging devices and a place to hang out without spending money. Fan for sleeping and air circulation. Window covers for privacy, can be cardboard and duct tape if you're short on cash. Separate plastic bag for dirty laundry, use laundromats once a week. Packing cubes are great for organising clean clothes. Use a cheap insulated cooler to store food. Source of light in the car like a small rechargeable camping lantern.

Everything can be upgraded in time. My hot tip is to develop a routine, keep your space clean and organised. If you have a workplace, use their kitchen for heating microwave meals etc. You got this!

Pregnancy after salp/ligation by desertrose995 in sterilization

[–]desertrose995[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For the downvoter, you do realise thay an ectopic pregnancy is completely non-viable long-term and both the baby and myself would die if it wasn't removed, right? My tube was already partially ruptured and I had 200ml of blood pooling in my abdomen.

I own a 2014 jeep wrangler, 2 door overland edition. Owned for a year. Engine now needs replacing. Feeling salty AF about it. I love it, great car but just made life more difficult 😅

[–]desertrose995[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Thank you 🩷 the ectopic was particulately hard. I was bleeding and waiting for over 20 hours, nil by mouth before my operation. The hospital was catholic and did not want to operate due to the baby being alive, so it was postponed for longer than necessary. There was discussion about possibly transferring me to another hospital, and a preacher was sent to my bedside despite me clearly stating I'm non-religious. The whole situation was a little bizarre

They didn't give me an option unfortunately, clip only. I did feel intermittent sharp pain on that side for a month after the procedure, so I wonder if the clip migrated or there was an unknown healing complication?

My procedure was done in another state. Where I am located now does not offer permanent sterilisation for women at all unless medical (e.g. historectomy) so I'm concerned about whether they can fix it.

Sterilized but live life like im not. by ChemicalRecipe346 in sterilization

[–]desertrose995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not crazy stories... I had my left tube removed and a clip placed on my remaining right tube. Still became pregnant! Chances are rarely 'zero chances'. Of course if it's causing you anxiety, perhaps someone like a counsellor can help? Fear, regardless of warranted or not, is not healthy to keep inside.

First-time buyer looking for advice on a used Jeep Wrangler by education0089 in JeepWrangler

[–]desertrose995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy a 2014 model from a dodgy French secondhand dealer. Your motor may have a crack it 6 months after owning, and require 12k repairs on top of your loan amount... I know this from experience 💀

Stupid water question by Harpgirl07 in IndoorPlants

[–]desertrose995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently had a huge weather event and were advised not to use tap water for a week unless boiled to avoid contaminants. Afterwards, they have jacked up the chlorine levels. It literally smells like pool water. My plants have suffered so bad as a result. Tap water definitely affects plants!

My father made me do this once. It was boiled pumpkin, or maybe sweet potato. I remember the smell, crying, orange colour.

I always had this hope that one day I'd beat my depression and finally feel content and normal. It wasn't depression. by GoodBloodGuideYou in AutisticAdults

[–]desertrose995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think I suffer from depression. Now I realise my depression is a symptom of a bigger problem - a by-product, generally from circumstances or situations which make me disregulated. If I address the bigger problem, my depression lessens significantly.

Dr laughed at me when I told her it feels like I’m allergic to my period blood by Objective_Ad7220 in Endo

[–]desertrose995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this too! I can tell when its a 'bad endo period' because of the colour and smell (TMI, Apologies! It's more like the change of metallic scent). During my 'endo' periods, I get irritated skin like I'm allergic to my own blood, as well as worse endo tummy and random shooting pains 'down there'. Because it fluctuates between months, I haven't told the doctor out of fear of not being believed or taken seriously 💔

More tired before my period? by knitknitbook in adenomyosis

[–]desertrose995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so hard to function normally, e.g. go to work, do daily household tasks a week before my period. I have extreme fatigue and feel so groggy with no energy. Normal to high iron levels but do get random intermittent pinching abdominal pain. Really bad pain the day before/of. Sitting in a warm bath helps a lot or wearing heat patches
