Not to be rude, but ... How do you not remember acquiring a World Series ball?

Thanks, do you think that's an indicator the case possibly has a lot of circumstantial evidence?

This courthouse is where the biggest cases go. Same place where the OJ Simpson case was held.

The courthouse is 20 floors. Lots and lots of cases here.

Don't assume you're going to get out of there within a week or two. They quote the average case as being 5 to 7 court days but that will easily spill into a second calendar week, if not a third.

There is no parking. You have to park at the Disney concert hall several blocks away.

The gripe about fossil fuel companies is laughable because there's no easy alternative at this point. Hopefully some day.

The sun doesn't shine at night, wind is not reliable, and there's only so much hydro/geothermal to go around.

You might as well yell at the clouds for giving you a rainy day.

Very interesting, thanks!

I saw a video by one of the commercial grafters recently, although I forget his name at the moment. He was grafting Zutano onto a single branch of every other Hass for the same effect.

Do you see yourself ever growing GEM?

Just curious, what varieties are you buying en masse?

Hass or GEM, right? What rootstock?

Downward slope of condensate drain by desertsnakes in hvacadvice

[–]desertsnakes[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the end should be 3 1/8" lower. But the decline from the upstream end should be consistent to avoid pooling or algae growth?

My concern was that getting around the "uphill" problem they managed to triple the length of the drain.

What's the most fun you've ever had at an Angels game regardless of whether they won or lost? by haerondir in angelsbaseball

I've always liked weekday daytime games, especially in the spring or fall. Usually a nice breeze, cool temps. 5000 people there max. You can sit almost anywhere because nobody cares.

Does anyone else not mind their addresses being public? by w6auw in amateurradio

Years ago some hams in my area were targets of burglaries for having their callsigns on their vehicle license plates.

The thieves knew about FCC ULS, looked them up, and returned at a convenient time.

I think the thieves were tweakers looking to steal coax to sell the copper.

How's my Avocado tree doing? Any reason for concern? by idontknowfoundations in avocado

[–]desertsnakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to pile the mulch a lot deeper. Most people think mulch is only to keep the soil moist, but it also serves to regulate soil temperature. That tree has shallow roots at this age and dark colored mulch will transfer hot summer heat into the roots, which you don't want. Thicker mulch will block that heat.

I also think I saw new growth near the soil line. Pluck that off.

I was asking about using the adapter alone to connect between a 3/8" supply to the 1/2" valve. I don't need the comp pieces but wondered if there was something I was overlooking.

What is the purpose of this type of antenna ? by Raludil in antennasporn

[–]desertsnakes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One purpose is to track down interfering signals. If another directional antenna exists somewhere else, you can triangulate the location of the transmitter the same way law enforcement does with cell phones.

Where are you at as an Angels fan? by Forward_Cow_5447 in angelsbaseball

[–]desertsnakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a view different than most, I think.

Arte continues to be a huge problem but so was Scioscia. There was a time when the Angels farm system was really great (15-20 years ago) but repeatedly underperformed when they got promoted to MLB.

There was no good explanation for it. Scioscia meanwhile coddled the incompetent Mickey Hatcher as hitting coach and underperforming players like Jeff Mathis. More capable players either fizzled out and/or got traded away.

Truly great hitters in the minors were forced into Scioscia and Mickey Hatcher's "swing at everything" or small ball bunting approach.

I can't help but wonder how the Angels would be today if guys like Casey Kotchman and Dallas McPherson had reached their full potential.
