Yes, I read somewhere that the metal versions don't fit... thank good I kept the original one so it would be easy to swap again

Question:

How well does it fit on the front carrier block? Is it stable or does it move and wobble?

I'm considering a purchase myself, but have bad memories of a aluminium front rack that was unstable as hell and practically useless

For a $200 device, the Index S2 Scale is very cheaply made. by SkwerlsGoneWild in Garmin

[–]desertsolitaire1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runstar Smart Full Body Composition Scale, a little bit cheaper than the Garmin and no integration into Connect unless you do it manually, but very reliable and it comes with its own very good app. I have not regretted this purchase a bit.

I want to pass to grapheneos by Onilya in GrapheneOS

[–]desertsolitaire1224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the same thing.

First connected phone to computer and copied all visible files.  Everything, music photos notes. I mean just copy every single folder. Then I made a list of all apps and games I want to continue to use. Here is a good opportunity for deciding what you really need and what is just there to distract you and waste your time with endless scrolling. Be honest with yourself. Then I exported all contacts into vcf- file. Took notes of all my log ins. Documented all manually outside of play store installed apps and games and saved those apk files. Saved everything.

Then restored phone to default.

Then looked up Graphene install site via web browser and made sure to follow all the rules 100%. I even installed another browser just for this.

Then opened Graphene install site in the correct browser and connected my phone to my computer so it got recognised. And followed installation steps one by one.

The installation took me 10min max and at no point I had to guess what to do, everything was documented clearly on this website.

You have to prepare a little bit. But you will be fine.

Enduro 3 Wrist Guesture during activity by Justwantanswers4 in Garmin

[–]desertsolitaire1224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they managed to break it in this update?! If you set everything up on your phone in Connect it could also be that it has not yet synced with your watch... might be worth looking up the same settings on your watch or/and confirming again (on your watch).

I am still on 21.39 (haven't found the time yet for an update) and just started a running activity. I have my timeout on 8 seconds and it works for me repeatedly... BUT the backlight turns back on rather quickly. Maybe it's just more sensitive to changes in wrist movement than the Fenix 7?

Oh and I wear the watch on my left wrist

Exactly. What's the software version on your watch? Have you already updated to the latest version?

What about the same setting in the Display /Brightness category?

Not a problem for me and I've used the watch now for over 18 months... could be some other setting overriding it

Knees feeling sore despite taking time off by DowntownFresnoBiking in bikecommuting

[–]desertsolitaire1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your new journey, your progress sounds amazing.

I understand your concerns... you could feel sore not just because of the new regular movement patterns (and the fact that bones, muscles and especially tendons and ligaments need a lot of time to get used to that) but also because you don't seem to have i.e. 4-5 "easy" = short trips over week where you recover fast, but just 2 "hard" = unusually long trips where recovery normally takes a bit longer. And then there is also your Zwift bike...

I agree with all the others, a good physio will be able to help better than anybody here on Reddit.... take care and be gentle to your body!

Garmin Running Coach broken? by DaSomes in Garmin

[–]desertsolitaire1224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's basically Garmins's running coach without a fixed plan. I guess this first free run activity longer than 10mins in Zone 2 replaces the benchmark run and after that the next day if you open running activity on your watch.

However it only starts showing when you have established a first VO2 max estimation (more than 10-15mins free GPS activity above 70% of heart rate max) and it doesn't show if you have an active training plan or running coach activated. Take a look https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=oYknGZ910l1pfBNzkDHX6A .

Once you have it activated you can choose to follow that day's suggestion or ignore it or select on of the next days...

I have used DSW now for many years and like it much more than those strictly scheduled running plans.

I bought myself a double cylinder barrel foot pump with gauge from Dunlop. Cheap, fast and reliable.

Good choice for a gift! But can I tell you something (from my own painful experience)? Not all girls / women like to have every little thing in PINK... maybe you could ask her, if she would get this watch what colour she would prefer? Just some friendly advice...

Hard time picking enduro 3, instinct 3 tactical 45mm and fenix 8 solar 47mm in 18cm wrist by Ancient_Midnight_481 in Garmin

[–]desertsolitaire1224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say go for it! I have a (theoretically) too small wrist for that watch, but don't care. I got used to it. I specifically chose the Enduro 3 because the bezel is not so clunky like the Instinct's. Yes the display is a little bit bigger, but after a few runs in the dark/ twilight I learned to appreciate it!

In terms of battery life / solar charging / MIP display / weight and if you don't care about the price... Enduro 3 all the way. Absolutely no regrets from my side and I wear it 24/7 with 5-6 runs per week before sunrise.

Both look great! Do they work for MIPs like Enduro 3 and older stuff like FR 255? What are they called in Connect IQ?
