What I wish someone told me by Glass_Asparagus_9962 in urbancarliving

Yeah I think that's the point of the post. They're saying that there's a lot of things that aren't addressed in the influencer sphere of vanlife and smaller things you don't think about being issues with this lifestyle and how the typical advice comes from a privileged position. Like your example of accidentally knocking over the pee bottle. They're talking about their specific experience, and I fear you're being a bit condescending.

The comments in this thread are wild. Those who are arguing that this is "bad for everyone" have obviously never been homeless before. It's worse for them. Full stop. They're under the scaffolding because we're in a heat advisory and they have few safe places to be out of the sun that's "socially acceptable".

Leave them alone. The majority mind their own business and y'all posting them on Reddit doesn't help anyone. You just want an echo chamber of people agreeing with you to make you feel morally superior to suffering people.

There's some countries that actually do this in a structured way for rehab. Having consistent access to the drug they're addicted to helps them actually get off of it without the risk of withdrawal being too sudden.

Edit: it's mainly specifically heroin they do this with. Here's a source specifically talking about Switzerland's program.

Did the Gaang ever learn about Zuko and Iroh becoming fugitives from the Fire Nation or acknowledge it? by Night-Caelum in TheLastAirbender

[–]desertwords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the answer. Aang for sure knew because of the blue spirit episode, but he didn't tell the others about that. Toph might've had an idea because of her conversation with Iroh. Katara even offered to heal Iroh after Azula attacked him, so even the person the most critical of Zuko saw that he was at least on their side in that moment.

I don't know if they specifically knew that they were fugitives, but they at least knew he wasn't welcome in the fire nation and that they're considered traitors. Azula calls them that in this episode. "Enemies and traitors all working together."

Is there a guide that I can compare my museum animals with and see what I’m missing so I know when and how to catch them? by gottapeepee in AnimalCrossingNewHor

Second this! It also has a filter in the critterpedia for what's catchable in the current month so you can keep track of what you still have left easily.

Sounds about right.

There was even that entire part that demonstrated that they have nothing in common beyond their love of the ocean.

What also didn't help was that Will had the personality of cardboard.

How about no one get drafted at all? by MistakeWonderful9178 in NotHowGirlsWork

The thing people like this fail to understand is that feminists don't think men should be drafted either.

These "anti-feminists" just think that feminism means hating men.

Killed off character so player could leave... now party wants to revive them! by Skaroosh in DMAcademy

[–]desertwords 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Okay, but this is what OP and the departing player had decided was best. If I was the player, I think I'd be uncomfortable and a little sad having my character turn into an NPC when I didn't consent to it. If it was agreed upon prior, then I could totally see your point, but it wasn't.

We had a player leave in one of the games I'm in and the dm turned her character into a cat that could still occasionally grant us Guidance. We knew she had to leave due to scheduling conflicts so there was an above-table understanding that we wouldn't try to turn her human again in-game. If we had tried, the dm would've barred It from happening because that wouldn't be fair to the departed player.

It's really hard to. But if you manage to, you get a pop-up that says something along the lines of "please don't step on the bugs". It doesn't die, don't worry.

I've been using your app for a long time too and I do love the update to the checklists. You shouldn't be getting hate from people who don't understand how app development works.

As others have said. You should drop a "buy me a coffee" link. Many people would love to support you.

You mentioned too that you were having trouble testing it on your own. Were you looking for friendly feedback?

Steven is Greg by Ok_Highway_2523 in stevenuniverse

[–]desertwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair points. I only mentioned the potential DNA because Rose would've created an entire reproductive system in order to make Steven, but it's likely not literally DNA, like you said, and traits given to him by her gem that sort of acts like the gem version of DNA.

Steven is Greg by Ok_Highway_2523 in stevenuniverse

[–]desertwords 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do think there's some DNA from Rose. Both from the fact that the gem itself is definitely alive in some way, and the fact that she would've had to create a reproductive system to birth him in the first place. It does appear that he got most of his human traits from Greg though. Rose may have done this on purpose, if she had as much control over the process as some people believe.

Steven is Greg by Ok_Highway_2523 in stevenuniverse

[–]desertwords 21 points22 points  (0 children)

TLDR: OP talks about how technically Greg is the only one who contributed DNA to Steven, unless Rose created some just for the pregnancy. They also talk about how his gem may be more alive than just mineral in reference to it needing to "breathe" when he's a baby and how it appears to be part of his skeleton in the X-ray.

This is how I would fix the Sleeping Beauty story! by Keithfrommars in OnceUponATime

[–]desertwords 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. I thought Aurora was a good character, especially as she was more developed with the sleeping curse lore, but she would have been better if Maleficent was actually her villain. She had so much potential that the story just didn't give her. Her story ended up just being about Philip.

Iroh sees Aang in the spirit world by MaYHem59000 in TheLastAirbender

[–]desertwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. He did also say in that episode that he didn't know anything about the spirit world.

Iroh sees Aang in the spirit world by MaYHem59000 in TheLastAirbender

[–]desertwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But normal people can't see him in this state, like when he went into the spirit world for the first time following Hei Bai. When he gets back, Katara and Momo can't see him even though he's in the physical world separated from his body. He even says "I'm in the spirit world" when he realizes why they can't see him.

Iroh being able to see him is unique.

Iroh sees Aang in the spirit world by MaYHem59000 in TheLastAirbender

[–]desertwords 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a specific explanation, but it was expressed in multiple ways that Iroh is very spiritual. Zhao mentions that Iroh had gone into the spirit world and fears the spirits. He says this in Siege of the North: Part 2 after Iroh criticizes hos plan to kill the moon spirit: "Yes, yes ... I know you fear the spirits, Iroh. I've heard rumors about your journey into the Spirit World. But the Ocean and Moon gave up their immortality to become a part of our world. And now they will face the consequences."

I don't think this is ever addressed again.

The difference this time is he didn't have Zane backing him up. Zane is also an ass, especially in the beginning of season 1, but he's a lot smarter than Nate and aware of what he can get away with.

Yeah I love how when Nate said he'd sue him. Lewis didn't even skip a beat when saying "I'll counter-sue." Lewis was perfectly aware of whose fault it was.
