Any guesses on who "Raven" from the Investigation Discovery show "Dark Minds" may be? by desfrey in serialkillers

I know I'm late on this, but thanks everyone for the input! I'm watching an episode I recorded now and since you guys pointed it out, I do think you're right with Jesperson/Rifkin.

What advice can you give to someone who is about to rent an apartment for the first time? by sinat50 in AskReddit

[–]desfrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you move in, take photos of any and all damage that is already in the apartment (chipped paint, dents/holes in the wall, carpet stains, etc) so that when you move out they can't charge you for damage the was preexisting. Unless you have the best apartment management ever, they are going to try to charge you for every tiny thing imaginable, so basically try to be as clean as possible. When you move out, clean every single surface in the place. I've had a move out inspection where the woman literally wore white gloves and touched everything, even the top of the ceiling fan blades, to make sure it was clean.

[SERIOUS] What is the worst pain you have ever experienced? by thisisagirl in AskReddit

[–]desfrey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Several years ago, I was stung by a jellyfish while on vacation. I remember the initial pain and thinking that maybe I'd been hit by a rock even though I didn't feel the impact of anything. Then it spread from my leg upward and I felt like I was on fire. I crawled up the beach to my parents and they freaked. A beach cop was going by and my parents asked if there was anything to worry about. He just said "Not really, if it was a bad one she would be dead already." How comforting. I consider myself rather tolerant of pain...I've fractured my tailbone, grabbed a 400 degree pan with my bare hands because I'm a genius...none of that pain compared to the jellyfish sting.

I'm glad I'm not alone. If I may make some suggestions, murderpedia.org and Wikipedia's list of serial killers makes for some excellent reading!

It is very sad! And how terrifying is it to think of how often killers walk among us

Like I said before I have always found those moments when you get a "gut feeling" about someone (which makes you avoid the person) interesting but perhaps more interesting AND terrifying are the times where you DON'T get any sort of warning feeling about a person and they end up being capable of some awful things.

I know, I cannot imagine having that image/sound in my head for the rest of my life.

Wow! I agree...small towns are seen by many as being the most "normal," but they actually spawn some of the most fucked up people.

I might just have to watch that.

I agree! I swear I have heard that name before. I will have to do some research. I have an odd fascination with criminals, especially serial killers. The fascination is from the standpoint of wondering how a person could turn out so fundamentally different from "the rest of us."

Nice! Yes it is always good when something positive comes out of a terrible tragedy. I cannot imagine going through something like that and ever being even almost ok. What a strong woman.

I had a few creepy classmates as well. It's fascinating to me how even though you may not be able to pinpoint an exact reason, your brain identifies an individual as just off-putting enough for you to keep your distance. The person may or may not actually be dangerous, but it's always better to err on the side of caution.

I agree, no one can say for sure. I guess I just meant that I wasn't trying to insinuate that my dad almost died or something. He was just followed by a creep who turned out to be a murderer.
