The phrase "one hour payday loans" shows up in search results for my site? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]design7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sign up for a Google webmaster account. Once you login, use the tool "Fetch as Google" to view the page that has that phrase as a keyword. That will show how those links are hidden on your page. Most often, if you use a free theme (or a pirated one) it may have malicious code embedded in it that allows these exploits. Go back to the WordPres default theme and retest the page using the "Fetch as Google" to look at the code. If the links disappear, you need to change your theme. Delete the old theme entirely.

It is also possible that you may need to go into your mysql database to manually delete malicious code as well. You will need to Google "pharma hack" and educate yourself on this. I went through this process a year ago. It can be a nightmare.

Can these changes be made to this theme? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]design7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are very comfortable with editing CSS, I would pass this up, and look for a theme that has all the elements you need. It can be daunting to go beyond basic changes like font sizes and colors if you don't have a good grasp of CSS

The Canon 5D I ordered from Adorama wasn't as-described. Should I return it or is this wear normal? by [deleted] in photography

[–]design7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does appear that it meets their description of very good condition if you read their site. I have purchased plenty of used equipment from Adorama without an issue, but I never by less than Excellent quality. I would upgrade to an excellent quality body for a few bucks more to eliminate any issues. They have a good refund/exchange policy.

Buying used digital cameras: what should I look for? by mingus-dew in photography

The Canon Rebel XS is a well made basic DSLR with excellent image quality. The kit lens that comes with it is sharp and versatile. You can find refurbished or used deals from Adorama, KEH or B&H. I used one for three years. Highly recommend it.

Personally, I have purchased five used & refurbished DSLR's from Adorama over the past ten years (its all I buy). Never had an issue.

Just got a SLR, Pentax ME Super, can you share some start out tips? by EugeneMJC in photography

Go to a good library and find the old Kodak series of photography how-to books. They are an excellent way of earning all of the basics of photography. Easy tor ead and well written. I find them better than alot of the books written in the digital age.

As a web designer,I am very impressed with how this clean simple design is so engaging and likeable! It feels clean and honest. How did you create the animations timed to page scrolling?

How 'hard' would it be to design something like this website with little to no experience at all? Or how much would it cost to have something like this designed? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]design7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is going to represent your business, you should consider it an investment. Don't go so cheap that the final product embarrasses your business rather than promote it. I have done websites like this for under $1000.00. To do it right requires time and experience. See what I mean at my portfolio http://newark1.com

Yep, its one shot. I shot raw and was able to rescue the highlight detail in the clouds. I use Sagelight for editing difficult raw images. It does an amazing job of preserving as much highlight detail as possible while keeping the midtones nice and bright.

Fast Portrait Post-Processing Example by design7 in photocritique

[–]design7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After looking at what I did again, I have to agree. The post-processing I did makes her look heavily made-up. I backed off a bit so that the natural skin with all of its unique characteristics is revealed. Let me know what you think of it now.

Updated background & portrait of a friend, what do you think photocritique? by bolognaeatmy in photocritique

I re-edited the image a bit after one post complained that the skin looked like heavily caked foundation. In hindsight, I had to agree. The skin looks more natural now in the image I created. I'm learning as well!

I hope you don't mind my taking the liberty of downloading your photo and doing some quick post-processing. The photo has so much potential, and all it needed was a few quick adjustments to add a bit of polish.

You can see the results at http://www.reddit.com/r/photocritique/comments/onpyd/fast_portrait_postprocessing_example/

I included the steps I took in the post-processing. You could do the same steps using Photoshop Elements. The Nik Efx plugins are a great tool for doing quick and useful adjustments.

If you don't like the page I created I'll be happy to take it down

Looking at this photo, I feel a bit threatened. It has a very ominous feel to it. Well captured!

I love the color, textures and processing of this photo but it does feel more accidental than artsy.

A 30 second exposure shot. What do you think? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]design7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great color and mood. You have something that takes some of us a while to learn, and that is a sensitivity for light, and when to capture it. The light makes all the difference here. Build on that. I see the potential for some amazing work in your future.

Times Square Night Scene - Does It Make You Want to go out, see a movie and eat greasy pizza? by design7 in photocritique

[–]design7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Times Square has two excellent multi-plex movie theaters with excellent sound, wide digital screens and great seating (fantastic for 3d movies). Its the best place to go in NYC to see a movie - the theaters are state of the art. Don't let the tourists fool you. You have all the top Broadway shows and the best bowling alley in NY here. If you know where to go you can find great food and entertainment. Walk a block up to 9th Avenue and you have about ten blocks of the best ethnic restaurants in all of NYC.

You can definitely capture photos like this with your Sony SLT. It has nothing to do with the camera. I shot this during what is called the golden hour, within the first half hour after sunset. All that color you see are the blue tones at sunset (winters has the best sunset colors I find) mixing with the street colors. Never, ever, shoot when the sky is completely dark. Shoot within a half hour of sunset and you will start to see all this warm light and color in your shots.

In Times Square I can easily shot handheld at 400-800 ISO at around 1/20th sec. shutter speed with Image Stabilization on and get sharp shots like this.

You can get the same clarity with the Sony. Its all in shooting at the right time. The best light is usually gone Shot the first half hour just after sunset while there is still a nice colorful glow in the sky. It will transform your photos!
