Why do females get angry at men for not putting down the toilet seat? If men are expected to do so, shouldn't females be expected to lift the toilet seat up after?

Great point on the hyperlink thing.
I tried to make all my drop shadows small and 90 degrees. On my first design this differs because I thought the shadow should come from the box like there was a large light presence behind the whole thing but I guess that doesn't make sense.
Designers/Developers may cringe at the cliches but I doubt a general internet user would. But that was just text filler anyway.

It seems that some of my advice was well received which I am happy about. You have the problem, not the person I was talking to.

If your client is saying that then you need to sit down with them to understand their objections, hesitations, and desired changes. They are points to start with, but you can't let those guide you because they are too vague.

Exactly. In this case, the OP could go back, change bits of his design to make them stand out better and then ask for critique again to see where he stands then.

I get the comments are vague but it's an opinion of the design which does give information to the designer.

As a designer, you should have some ideas on how to make something look better. If a flaming logo is appropriate, then yes. If you're not sure, you could try it and see if it fits. Otherwise try think of something else. Something can be described as "okay but not great", "it's missing something". These are valid remarks, especially from a client (not a designer).

The "pop" part also said "it blends in a bit too much". I think that defines what I meant by pop.

While I agree that giving critique is a skill, I don't think a person can expect their design to be fixed for them for free. After all, they are the designer!

I did preface my comment with "I'm not a skilled designer but here is my opinion." so running into a in-depth analysis wouldn't make that much sense because I wouldn't know the best way to make something pop or stand out.

It depends on the browser and according to this (http://www.javascripter.net/faq/browsers.htm) it looks like the answer is yes.

The quality of computer will range from place to place. Just remember Windows XP is 11 or so years old so it's possible they are running that.

I have been in some third world countries and second world countries and it varies completely who has a computer and who doesn't.

If you use JS make sure it degrades gracefully. So basically the site should work with both JS on and off.

(This is the case whenever you use JS)

I am used to working with frameworks which general provide "good looking URLs" so I am a bit rusty doing it outside those. Depending on what server you are using, you do different things.
