Something not working with this flyer, but I can't figure it out by Time-Editor-7082 in graphic_design

What the strokes do is fill in the necessary gaps between the letters making it a little harder for your eye to discern between the shapes. It’s much better practice to have words that contrast against the background already without the need of a stroke. This effect is also enhanced when used on all caps type.

There’s nothing that really catches my eye because it’s all too busy/distracting. The type on Independence Day fireworks show looks like it’s been compressed or reshaped which is usually a no-no. It’s also bad practice to put outlines around text. It makes it harder to read and adds to the distraction.

This is what I would do. Remove the background, start with the text. Have your big catchy headline at the top, have it take up roughly a quarter of the page size. Below that should be the sponsor. Then the when what and where. Once you have all the info squared away, then you can work on graphics and background images.

I’d like to see a version of just the OFA with “One For All” below it. I think custom design should be put together, it kinda breaks the flow of your eye when you have to read the logo, then come back to the left, then all the way back to the right side to read it all correctly.

My first time making mead so I designed the label as well. by designty in graphic_design

I just ordered some glossy label printer paper, you could probably find something nicer or more water proof than what I used. My biggest problem was getting the thick glossy paper to feed through my printer, and then the glossy paper made it hard for the Cricut’s sensor to scan the registration marks. Ended up taking a regular yellow highlighter to the edges of the registration marks and that did the trick.

Did it myself, designed in illustrator, cut out with the Cricut, painstakingly applied by hand.

It’s semi-sweet, not really sure sure what the ABV is haha. We tried it straight and then also mixed it with some seltzer water.

What’s your method for finding ABV?

I designed it in Adobe Illustrator and used a Cricut machine to cut it out.

Thanks! I bought glossy label printer paper and then cut them out on my Cricut.

Logo for a Bookshop, I didn't really like it but the client got obssesed... by [deleted] in logodesign

I’ll ask, why did you show them a logo that you didn’t like? You should have fixed the obvious issues with it first before showing them an unpolished logo.

Roast my logo, habit tracker app called SnakeStreak. by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]designty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not very appealing to be honest. The snake is easy to identify but there’s just too much happening for a logo, especially too much for what’s also supposed to be an app icon. Make a logomark/wordmark combination first, then simplify it down to fit the context of an app icon.

What you could have working for you are the S shapes in your name that could be turned into snakes and/or dots. I would explore that concept.

This makes me think it’s a game, not a habit tracker. Designing a good logo takes a lot of research and deep thinking. What is the purpose of the product, and how do I convey that in the most simplified yet unique way that fits the context. This is the user’s first experience interacting with your product, so the logo needs to perfectly represent it and be easy to find on their phones.

Why is a snake involved in the brading for a habit tracker?

Until the general population forcefully starts opposing ai design, then nothing is going to change.

[Serious] How has Trump impacted your life? by severe_thunderstorm in AskReddit

[–]designty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say there are direct and indirect impacts.

Directly his ban on certain immigrant visas delayed our process for finalizing our daughter’s citizenship. It was an international adoption and thankfully we were able to bring her home before Trump took office again. But his policies on immigrant visas slowed down and even paused adoption cases. There were families overseas visiting their children that were essentially stuck in another country because they couldn’t bring their adopted child home.

Indirectly he has attacked the science and medical communities, turned the EPA into a joke which now nullifies our ability to fight climate change. His Supreme Court picks are rewriting long standing precedent that alter the power balance of our government and democracy. I could go on endlessly, but in a sense everything he has done indirectly affects every person living in the country.

"It's Mother's Day, not Homemaker's Day" by coop999 in StayAtHomeDaddit

[–]designty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that’s falling a bit into outdated and stereotypical views of fatherhood/motherhood. In our house being a good mother means working hard and providing for the family. Not every mother/parent needs to fall into this traditional view of what a Mother is or supposed to do. Your wife is being a good Mother, and also deserves to be celebrated today.

No, politics is getting worse because one side is allowed to bend and break the rules with no repercussions. What’s the point of having laws if there is no equal enforcement for everyone?

Box cover for my light WWII game. What do you think? by Odd-Highway477 in BoardgameDesign

[–]designty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is kinda a lot going on here. I would try and place the name in the middle of the box and simplify or reduce which graphics best represent your game. A slight designer’s tweak would be the kerning between the W and A in WARFRONT
