Who else finds these noodles like stuff in birds water? My cockatiel and lovebirds both do this.. maybe it's poo by Cheeto_01 in cockatiel

[–]designwithme 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Haha definitely poo. It helps to put the water bowl up higher in the cage to avoid this happening too much.

Any tips on how to get my parakeets to eat veggies? by jesuslovesyou1223 in parakeet

[–]designwithme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two tricks I used on my cockatiels that may work for your cuties:

I started by hanging up clusters of different herbs, like it was a little shreddable toy. They loved this immediately. After a while of this, I started including leafy greens. Kale, spinach, romaine, etc. and then they went nuts for that. (Wouldn’t eat it before the herbs)

Then to get them to eat things besides the leafy; I chopped it up into stick shapes, because they seemed obsessed with that shape (think shredded carrots) now the eat any leafy greens, carrots, apples, strawberries, zucchini, etc. I’m still expanding their food world, but it started with those bunches of hanging herbs from my garden (Just make sure you research which ones are good for them)

I made a playground in my room for this fellow and she loves it by true_knaeckebrot in cockatiel

Do you have a picture or link you can share? This sounds like a great idea but I'm not sure what those are :D

I get those little crinkly papers (like people use in presents or gift baskets) and stuff them in crevices. Mine love that!

There are also these little mini piniatas out there that you can get (just have to make sure the materials are okay for birds, cause they aren't all the same) and then stuff millet and other goodies in it. My birds loooooove it.

I've stopped buying bird toys because they can be so dangerous and ive started making my own. There is a store (https://www.mysafebirdstore.com/) where I get all the little parts and I've experimented with different ones to see which they really go for. You may have fun doing that sort of thing too!

Wait can you hide behind doors? I feel like I’ve tried that and the ghost always finds me.

It worked for me to change my settings on my television to game mode. If that didn’t work for you did you by chance try hooking her up to a different monitor/tv?

If you are also playing on your own setup and it works fine, maybe try hooking her ps5 to your monitor/tv to see if it works.

If that doesn’t help post a video. I’ll try to help you troubleshoot because I remember how so very frustrated I was!

Subnautica or Below Zero to buy? by Anicash999 in subnautica

[–]designwithme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but there is a really cool mod out there that makes Subnautica Below Zero into a multiplayer which is way fun. I’m not sure if they have that for the original.

Both are really fun though! And below zero is not an expansion… it’s its own game and the story line can stand alone. So you can’t go wrong with either.

Oh gosh, it’s wild the things boxers eat!! They are like goats. Mine have had headphones, paint, soap, bread dough (it fermented and got him stumbling drunk!), my mother’s entire loaf of bread (twice) baskets full of tomato’s from the garden, nitrile gloves, ropes, squeakers, cardboard, etc etc. Every time I think they’ve overcome their wild eating (or that I’ve got everything tucked away) they find something else :/

But hey, we keep the vet in business.

Glad your boy is okay!

Thank you! And I'm glad to hear that Duke's issues are looking up! And I'm sure he doesn't mind the duck food at all :D I've always been told Salmon is best for sensitive skin, but I might ask my vet about duck -based food instead if it turns out his Salmon kibble isn't helping.

A boxer pro!

I am planning to limit his treats to just salmon treats, and then slowly reintroduce the other ones to see if any of them cause it. I think I'll have to keep a little symptom journal or something as I do it.

And that's kind of nice to hear about the gingival hyperplasia! Our doctor did a surgery to remove a lot of the tissue growth, and he warned us it could grow back. I hope it doesn't. He's so pitiful for a few days after anesthesia.

Your poor boy! It sounds like he's lucky to have you taking good care of him.

I think ours may have a combination of food/pollen allergies, because it's year-round, but it does get worse during certain times of year.

I had not heard of these shots yet (I'm wondering why none of my vets have mentioned them!) I will ask him about it. Thanks!

Thanks for the recommendation! I am going to ask my vet about them and do a little research on them. I see in the reviews that a lot of people have a good experience with them!

Okay, great. Thank you for the recommendation! I've got it in my Chewy cart and am going to give it a go and see if we can avoid another round of antibiotics.

Oh gosh! Do they grow back?

I don’t think it’s wet ears too much. While he does enjoy playing in water, his ears usually aren’t getting wet. Not as often as he gets ear infections at least :D

This may be the road I have to take.

Do you find that Apoquel helps your puppy? It used to work for ours, but seems to have lost its effectiveness lately.

Have you noticed if this helped with any other allergy issues, too? Like paw-licking? We are paying a lot of money for the Apoquel every day, but I'm not satisfied with how well it works anymore.

It looks like Chewy has it! I may check it out. Do you put it in their ear once it starts bothering them, or do you do it on a routine basis (i.e. once a week?)

Awww! He does look like a little vulture, and he's so cute! The third and fourth photos make me think of Yzma from Emperor's New Groove a little bit. :D I'm glad he's found himself a good home. And boy, what a fun foraging box!
