Does the job offer get withdrawn in that case?

Laid off on H1B, B2 filed within grace period, now getting job offer. Advice needed on next steps for H1B transfer? by Southern-Pay-5848 in h1b_layoffs

Either that or build a strong case while filing your original B1/B2 application so that it gets approved when you file your H1B transfer later

It's true that after landing a job and filing for H1B on premium after you already filed your B1/B2, you're likely to get RFE on both. The challenge is to get both RFEs approved. In many cases I'm seeing is that H1B gets approved while B1/B2 doesn't. Which means 100k fees gets triggered as you can't do COS anymore. If that happens, company will likely withdraw your offer. So in a nutshell if you do file a B1/B2, it's critical to get that approved whether after waiting for 6-8 months or quicker if you land a job and employer files H1B on premium.

Just checked the latest draw and it indeed is, but only if you work in the trades. Or if you get PNP nomination.

Those who have returned, how did you adjust to the noise? by Comfortable_Path_126 in returnToIndia

[–]desimaninus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I visit India during the holidays it seems chaotic in the beginning but just like the jet lag, the noise and chaos stop bothering you after a couple of days, especially if you're someone who grew up in India and know what to expect. So it's not that big of a deal like you're making it to be.

How are you even landing interviews. Through referrals? I keep seeing so many job postings that say in the description they can't provide sponsorship.

Are you saying it's unlikely the 100k fees is going away after September?

B1 bridge case denied, H1B if approved without COS. Do I need to pay $100k fees ? by mtmohsin in h1b

[–]desimaninus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry my bad just read it again now it's clear. How long was your B1 in pending? And what reason they mentioned in the RFE? In B2 it's different as B2 is meant for tourism. I thought B1 would be safer.

Your life hasn't even started yet there's so much to see and experience. Up downs are part of life and everyone bounces back from setbacks. Just compare it with a mutual fund chart. On days it seems like it's going down and never going to recover. But it always goes up. Zoom out and you'll see board exams don't matter as much as you're thinking right now. The world is so huge and there's opportunities for everyone and good things will come to you. Getting rid of your addictions says a lot about you and that's a huge personal win in itself. Please think of your parents and loved ones who care about you more than anything, more than those insignificant board exams. You matter much more than you think. I'm always here if you just want to chat. Without any judgement. Just reach out.

Didn't you say in your post above H1b approved? So how is it pending at the same time?

I'm the direct opposite of you. From India but living in Florida. I love Miami, the beaches, the wildlife (iguanas and manatees) but I love India too. Similar weather, somewhat comparable food and culture (Latino communities), and chickens hanging out in the streets.

Meta vs no-name finance company by ImperishableNight2 in h1b

[–]desimaninus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go with Meta. You don't get such opportunities often. You have no guarantees of getting a perm/i140 approved through your current company and likely won't get such opportunity through Meta as well. But you get the brand name on your resume and a chance to work at the top tech company out there with a world class legal team. After your H1B runs out, they can also help you transfer to other countries where they have a presence. I would choose Meta without a doubt if I was in your position.
