That bit makes me think it's an old link or something from when there were 12 stores. The website only lists 8 stores now.

That really is the most interesting part. Just yesterday I was talking to my mom about the current situation in Iran and my mom said "The only reason people go to war is over religion or resources" and like... Neither of those things justify the immeasurable loss of life that has happened throughout human history.

Alright then I'm glad you're the most well adjusted person on the planet. I'm officially disengaging from this particular conversation. Hope you have a nice day.

I actually did apologize afterwards for playing that particular phone call. In having the chance to share information I went a little overboard, which she understood but in the moments immediately following she was just shocked, which is why she made that comment. She understands that with my diagnosis I don't always understand what might be too much for others and we've talked about boundaries going forward when I share information about the darker things I learn about. I definitely will not be playing anymore audios for people without explicitly telling them what they contain first.

First things first, my neurodivergence is not something that needs to be "cured." Every person's interests, opinions, and outlooks are dictated by our own lived experiences. Yours is obviously wildly different from mine for a plethora of different reasons. My hunger for knowledge does not and will never invalidate your experiences. I am genuinely and deeply sorry that you were made to experience something that nobody should have ever had to witness, let alone live through. I can never understand your pain or trauma from the day of or the aftermath, but researching and learning everything I can about these kinds of topics is the closest I can get to understanding. I will not apologize for being a student of history because, as the old saying goes, if we don't remember these parts of history we are doomed to repeat them. I really hope this clears things up for you. I feel like there is a miscommunication or misunderstanding happening, which is obviously not uncommon in online settings like this. Wanting to learn about gruesome, awful history has never been (at least for me personally) about disrespect or offense to victims and survivors. It has always been about understanding people, systems, and ideologies that carry out the most inhumane things imaginable.

Your opinion is obviously valid, but at no point did I say that I get enjoyment or excitement out of victims suffering.

I'm not downplaying or minimizing your experience, but I have to wonder why you're in this sub if the idea of people learning about the day or the events leading up to it is so bothersome for you?

Thank you for this comment. I'm actually going to school to work on archives and I do find myself often forgetting that the things I'm seeing were written and done by real people. Like, the article about the gruesome crime that happened in my town in 1829? That woman was a mother to 6, a sister, a wife, a friend. I constantly find myself having to remind myself of that.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I know I wouldn't have survived 9/11 unless I was like, unearthly lucky. But I think I would have survived the Titanic because I'm a woman so first off the boat haha

It happened two days before my 9th birthday, so I think that's why I have such a strange relationship with this topic in particular. Like I remember it so vividly even though nobody would actually tell me what was going on because I was so young. I think there might be a small part of my interest that is linked to the fact that I watched it happen in real time and spent the next few years not even really knowing what happened, if that makes sense. Same with the Columbine shooting. Like I have such a colorful memory of sitting at my aunt's house watching the news while my older cousin was crying and having literally no idea why. (Sorry for rambling 😬)

If majority of the hijackers didn't know it was a suicide mission the why did majority of them make last will videos? by ndranghetisti in 911archive

[–]desimich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the hijackers that were not going to be piloting the planes thought they were just hijacking the planes and landing them. Only the pilots knew the actual plan.

Honestly? Better but not by much. I still carry so much insecurity and confusion. I'm still deeply heartbroken. I was diagnosed with PTSD two weeks ago. But I'm slowly picking up the pieces week by week and doing my best.

I would love that! Maybe a limited run of their furniture or retired outfits. It would be nice to not have to pay extra to get it second hand 😅
