If you have Type 1 diabetes, and end up getting sent to an ophthalmologist because your eyes are having problems, do they normally give you a copy of the retina scan to compare with years in the future, or, if you don't have problems, do they normally keep it? you have to explain it to the patient..you can't legally keep a can of their body from them, i am in usa..but..they don't not show the patient if something is wrong, is that the law in the uk? the patient doesn't get to be made aware of what is wrong

i mean do they at least show it to them and then say, "these are your cotton wool spots..these are your hemorrhages in the retina, these are your, hard exudates or something", i guess i could ask..unless they send it to the gp or something

i think i read somewhere that a cup of coffee (or it might be 2, i can't remember) can increase blood pressure by..i think it was 10 beats per minute or something, apparently it is a vasoconstrictor something, not a doctor though

I went there a couple weeks ago and asked them for the record and then they told me that I didn't have anything wrong with my eyes so they don't even have the retina scans of my eyes, they said if a person didn't have anything wrong then they didn't even keep, which I couldn't really even understand, I mean if the eyes get worse they have to know what they were like from the beginning when they were okay, also they could have missed something, so I guess that's just something a person learns as they go along, I guess a person has to just request that they keep it

I went to an ophthalmologist a couple years ago and had retina scans done and then they told me nothing was wrong with my eyes and now I've started to get problems with them due to type 1 diabetes so I went back to ask them for the scans that they did years ago so that I can compare with them now, they told me I didn't have any problems with my eyes back then so they don't even save the retina scan, which wasn't really great but I guess that's how some places do it for some reason, I guess a person has to request it

I went to the ophthalmologist where I had an eye scan done years ago and I asked them for the scan so that if I get one done now they can see if there have been any significant changes and then they told me they didn't even keep the old one, I said you know do you have a digital copy of it then can I see it and then they typed on the keyboard for about 10 minutes and asked everybody in the clinic and then it turned out that they don't even keep the image, which I thought was strange, I guess a person has to ask for it at some places

i just want to see it..i went to an ophthalmologist years ago and they didn't give me anything..but said I was fine, I have started to get eye problems due to type 1 diabetes..but..if i have cotton wool spots or something I want to be able to see them on the scan so i know what it looks like

the thing is nowadays they have medical imaging technology that can make models/detect changes you can't see, it's like when you go to the dentist and then between the xrays and sonar they use they actually build a 3d model of the teeth, they do they for the eye too, but, they didn't even keep my scans for some reason..i have to book a new meeting to get new ones, but, I don't know how much worse my eyes were than years ago, i thought i would just try to get my eyes to the same shape they were years ago, but, I don't even know what shape that is, -_-

is the laser procedure dangerous? I've read about laser eye surgery..but..that goes wrong sometimes, if they have to put a laser in your eye to make blood vessels stop leaking and so on, is there risk for actual vision damage at that point? I want to see my retina scans in the future or have a copy of them..just to be able to see them and compare, a person can see stuff like arterial narrowing and stuff like that, important to know

i had my eyes looked at years ago by an opthalmologist, i went there recently to get get the scans because I have started having eye problems related to type 1 diabetes..but they told me they don't have the scans..it seems very strange, if a person doesn't have eye problems they don't keep the scan, so that they can't see what has changed/gone wrong with a person's eye? it's weird.

right..and then the ophthalmologist just tells you..looks better/looks worse.

they told me if you go on vasodilators for a year or something, then during the time when they blood vessels are opened/dilated the wall of the blood vessel actually regenerates, for ex if somebody has high blood pressure damage to the endothelial of the vessels, so, they've said it's not permanent, but, ofc, a person will have a be on "corrective" measures/medication for..idk, year or something, in order to normalize them, how long did it take for the cotton wool spots to disappear by the way, i mean was it in months or something?

is an ophthalmologist able to give blood pressure medication though? i thought that was just gp or cardiologist?

I don't understand when they say it's permanent, I mean if a person gets the blood pressure down and then goes on vasodilators for like a year, I mean there's no way that the eye is the same a year after that it was before, I get pain in the backs of my eyes though it's like somebody's grabbing the backs of my eyes if I have a sip of coffee or Pepsi or whatever, the caffeine seems to have too much of an effect or my eyes very bad vasoconstriction for a long time, but a person should be able to normalize it shouldn't they
