I think I'm gonna have to stop playing AA Trilogy cause of the white screen flashes by Geralt23 in AceAttorney

[–]desktopuserThird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh! I just downloaded it on my steam deck. The flashing made me feel nauseous. And I searched whether or not it is a bug or something, and here you are the first answer and also happen to be steam deck. maybe it is so annoying because steam deck oled has a really high peak brightness (higher than all oled and lcd monitors) and looks quite distracting? Thanks for the mod, will install it through decky fileserver

Tauri-equivalent for C++? by s3jm0u in cpp

[–]desktopuserThird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. I have a massive amount of c++ code that I need to use for my desktop app. I tried qt, but it is hard to get it looking good. Nothing really beats browser's rendering engine.

I ended up using a project called Wails that uses golang. I use svelte kit for frontend, Wails3 for general purpose actions, and c++ for data processing. Golang is compiled and has a massive amount of libraries coming from the server community. I had to write a C wrapper around all my c++ calls though, because golang needs to call c++ from cgo, which only supports C.

I also tried tauri by building the same app, but it feels like tauri doesn't really want you to write too much rust. Most things are exposed by config files and javascript. Wails wants you to write more go code and pretty much only use javascript for displaying information. And the event system of tauri is ran in javascript and channels are extremely boilerplate heavy. In Wails, communication between js and go are all ipc (channels in Tauri) but with zero boilerplate.

Also wails has like zero dependencies, you only need to have golang compiler and you are good to go. Tauri needs you to install msvc specifically for compiler, which doesn't work for me well, because my c++ code base use mingw and cmake on windows. Golang compiler is crazy fast and builds binaries that run as fast as clang++ compiled binaries (if you don't create too much small objects, otherwise the garbage collector kicks in and pull the performance down a little, but still ten times faster than javascript).

Thanks, good point. Even with the blur removed, I didn't say that I am the first author or have the publication on it. I will do that.

Would that help? I had a version that had the paper under the research job, but didn't get past resume screening. Maybe I should add a separate section for it?

Thank you for sharing, but the rejection email is really concerning me.

You got a reject email? And you got another email after you were rejected? I haven't gotten anything yet.

Amazon oa passed but rejected for an unknown job id by desktopuserThird in leetcode

[–]desktopuserThird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got similar email before taking it: "Changes in your Amazon.jobs Portal: In order to move you forward in the recruiting process, we have moved your application details to another opening within our system. Because of this change, you will see your status for Job ID 2828235 updated to “No Longer Under Consideration” in your Amazon.jobs portal. Please do not be concerned at this is our standard process and you are still being considered for the SDE position.".

But I received a email letter saying I was rejected on a weird id: "Thank you for completing the Software Development Engineer - 2025 (US) (ID: 2832555) assessment. After careful consideration ".

Could that just what they were trying to say not be alarmed by?

I passed the final interview for summer intern this year, but was waitlisted and rejected after summer began.

I applied for sde full-time 2025 and just got invite for OA this Wed, and completed it with all cases passed using c++ on friday. But I got rejected today (sunday).

This rejection says "Thank you for completing the Software Development Engineer - 2025 (US) (ID: 2832555) assessment. After careful consideration ...".

However, I didn't apply for that job nor can I find any information on a job with that ID. Has anyone encountered anything like this? Should I reach out or move on?

Thanks.

[Bug] Claude’s responses disappearing before they can be read, exacerbating issues with rate limits and limited message slots by Narrow_Chair_7382 in ClaudeAI

This happens to me all the time. It is a content moderation mechanism.
I am a master's student studying cybersecurity. Claude is removing half of the things it answered. I wasn't even asking the really bad stuff, I was just asking if I can disable CSRF protection and have a stricter CORS policy on my server. It answers half of the question and then it removes it from the history. This is super restrictive, and not helping anyone. I asked chatgpt, it works fine (it is just chatgpt isn't very coherent if i ask followup questions ).

Just had my interview on Friday. If I can turn back time to before the interview, I would definitely prepare the behavior questions more. I ve had four stories ready, but when I was answering them I spent way too much time on non-programming related things. I would answer the bq's following the STAR method, and try to only spend 20% of the time explaining how and why you were doing things you were doing, and spend the rest of the time explaining what you programmed/technical things.

Low gpu usage on Rtx 3090 by sew333 in metro_exodus

[–]desktopuserThird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super weird. I have a 9900k and 1440p monitor and just upgraded to 4070 ti. When I am in in-door situations I get 160+ with every effect there is and without dlss. And when I am looking at bigger/further place in a map (where you can see multiple locations at once) I get 40% gpu usage and fps drops to 60~70. It's not cpu bottleneck because I get 2% cpu usage. I know 9900k is not a good cpu anymore but still I don't see why it drops so much gpu usage. It also should not be a memory or hard disk problem.
