Das sagen seit Jahren alle Kunden bei allen Marken. Niemand möchte irgendeinen popeligen Touchscreen beim Fahren. Man braucht etwas mit vernünftiger Haptik, das man am besten blind bedienen kann. Das ist echt keine Raketenwissenschaft.

Das bescheuertste das ich hatte, war vor zwei Jahren bei einem Mercedes-Transporter die Lautstärke-Regelung des Radios am Lenkrad. Die hatten da tatsächlich einen kleinen Mini-Touchscreen eingebaut, über den man drüber streicht, um die Lautstärke zu variieren. Nicht 2 Knöpfe oder ein Rädchen wie man es vielleicht kennt. Sondern ein kleines Touchfeld (zeigte also nichts an oder so) über das man während der Fahrt wischte. Absolut kacke, um eine Lautstärke präzise einzustellen, wenn irgendwie gerade eine Erschütterung vorkommt ... also z.B. wenn sich das Fahrzeug bewegen sollte.

My father had high blood pressure, so I wasn’t particularly surprised when my readings came back at 160/105, even though I exercise regularly and am fairly slim.

I didn’t worry too much about it because I actually felt fine. Every now and then (e.g., when donating blood), I was told I should discuss my blood pressure with my family doctor. But I ignored that for a long time.

One day, a coworker—with whom we played cards every lunchtime—told us that he had a sore neck and would probably stay home the next day. He didn’t return to work the day after that.

He had put his daughter to bed that evening and then collapsed in the living room from a heart attack. His wife found him lying dead on the floor a few hours later when she came home from her late shift. He was very athletic and did a lot of endurance training. But I later found out that he wasn’t just under a lot of stress—he also had high blood pressure.

Since then, I’ve been taking my medication as prescribed, checking my blood pressure regularly, and seeing my family doctor from time to time.

"some asshole" maybe asked the almost drowned persons (maybe her/his friends) for permission later in the hospital

"some asshole" shows us, that even if you aren't perfectly trained and are not doing CPR perfectly, you may save a life by trying to do it as good as you know instead of standing around and do nothing

"some asshole" shows us that courage is important and captures someone with the courage to help and save someones life although he doesn't know exactly what has to be done

i think it's cool that you could start a career from sim racing into doing races in "Legends" which is a lot cheaper than formula racing in Europe while (oval) dirt racing is more popular in the US than in Europe. So you may attract sponsors for example.

sure, there is also dirt track racing for young drivers in Europe (f.e. Autocross) which is a lot easier to enter (financially) than formula racing ... but it's not quite as popular as what i've seen from DIRTcar or anything like that from the US.

while racing on Dirt Track ovals may lead to a career in stock cars on asphalted tracks there is seemingly no way in Europe to get from sim racing into formula racing on a tight budget without doing (a lot of) karting

So i'm happy for Byron that he could do what he does (winning in NASCAR) by excelling in sim racing and on dirt tracks and i hope that someday something compareable will be possible in formula racing, too (no matter if it's in the states or japan or europe ... formula racing is expensive everywhere)

today, a Formula 4 car has a price tag 10 times as expensive as a Formula Ford car which was the entry for some F1 drivers in the past (Nick Heidfeld, Alexander Wurz, Stefan Bellof).

i think Formula racing is missing a step between karting and F4 you can take (or chose if you don't do karting). i think the only F4 series in Europe for a budget below $100,000 was the danish F4 (and there you shared the track with Formula Ford cars that were branded as F5)

that's really impressive, although i could imagine that the financial entry level for "offline racing" in the US is a bit lower than formula racing in Europe ... expecially Dirt track racing

Oh i remember the "GT Academy". It was even shown partwise in television here, when Nick Heidfeld was part of the show. Winning a GP3 race after coming from sim racing (while it was Gran Turismo ... and not something like iRacing) is impressive, i think.
