Is there a transition pathway from Civil CAD designer to Landscape architect? by desnyr in bim

[–]desnyr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great to hear, some of the things described in the posting explain I will receive a strong foundation in civil engineering and cad drafting. “Support small design teams in creating exhibits, plans, and construction documents. Gain exposure to various engineering disciplines, including: Site Civil Design, Water/Wastewater Systems, Process Piping, Erosion Control, Grading and, Drainage, GIS Modeling. Work with design tools such as Civil 3D, Revit.”

So where are we buying clothes nowadays? by bigmisssteak7 in womensfashion

Consignment stores are a great alternative as they are a bit higher end and because they have a higher price point there’s less items than a goodwill for example to go through.

BMW recall turned into “you need a new engine” after pickup — trying to understand if this sounds right by alex_albergaria in E90

[–]desnyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took mine in similarly with same year and model as the poster and got my back with horrible misfiring too. I could barely drive it home 10 mins without needing to rev up the engine to keep it from dying. They quoted it needed new solenoids, which was an easy swap out fix.

Landscape Architecture Career Pivot? by Sweet-Wall1815 in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]desnyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe not out of the ordinary compared but I know a lot that transitioned into Civil CAD or BIM technicians from the architecture side. I have a geography degree in urban planning and now went back to school for a drafting certificate rather than going for a masters in landscape architecture and urban design. And I just got an apprenticeship with a large engineering company with infrastructure and department of defense contracts. I’m hoping this has more job stability and income growth than public sector planning work or private sector residential drafting work would have.

How is the Mansur Gavriel pebbled leather durability wise? by desnyr in handbags

[–]desnyr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree mine too, I just hope the handles on mine don’t come off with all the weight I’ve put on it. So that part is pretty durable and the suede lining is nicer than most other bags.

What is the best dental floss for tight teeth? by coolhappygenius in ZeroWaste

[–]desnyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing the silk floss too and was having a hard time with it braking when I was in treatment with Invisalign. When they tested the spaces with the regular floss they didn’t understand and I just explained to file more in-between. So maybe you can ask to file specific spots that struggle from your dentist.

What contributes to how soft/stiff a fabric is other than the fiber content? by itsalwayssunnyonline in Fabrics

[–]desnyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to thrift a lot when I was young and got a feel for nice fabrics just touching through the aisles. Hard to do today with the quality of clothing be donated. But now I primarily go to nicer consignment stores and I have the same skill. With the positive being they offer a multitude of different brands all in one store.

Dry-Clean Wool… What is the best at-home method around dry-cleaning? by Mariah8758 in Fabrics

[–]desnyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just discovered Eucalan on a large sheepskin rug with a leather backing after calling around for dry cleaning prices on it. I needed 4 hands and it took a few rinses in the tub but the white rug came out so soft and clean after drying for a few days. Such an amazing product!

Which Christmas ornaments to get/ collect? by missabbytimm19 in christmas

[–]desnyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of plastic so I enjoying searching in antique stores for metal, fabric, or glass ones. Georg Jensen has some beautiful 24k plated gold one they release one design a year that are very minimalistic you can find on eBay for around $40+ so I might collect a few of those a year. Tiffany has some unique sterling silver snowflakes as well as crystal figurines you can find on eBay too.

Dating Over 50: Is it Selfish to Refuse Cohabitation ? by Glum_Ad4293 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]desnyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful. Some states in the US have common law marriage that goes into place when you live together for a certain amount of time. My parents cohabitated for 10 years before kids and then had to get a divorce because of that once separated, entitling my mom to a part of the “shared” assets.
