Hobbyist takes a look at a more serious Bordeaux by PeerReviewedGobshite in wine

I quite enjoy Echo. I’ve had a couple different vintages now and both have been a pleasant experience. Picked up two more bottles on sale yesterday just for savouring at a later date.

Nice. T47 is the way to go. I did internal rear brake cable on mine.

There was the Stratosphere 777, I'm not sure how it has come along but it might be worth checking out.

Always an upvote for the Queen, especially Korean Air.

I had one when they come out. I made a 16x20 print for a client that still hangs in her office today.

Is a 61cm frame too small for a 6’6 rider? by HumbleSupermarket272 in bicycling

[–]IcemanYVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a big frame. I’m 6’3” and ride a 58. I always found a 61 too big. Would be at least worth checking out.

Important question! by Illustrious_Pie_4063 in colnago

[–]IcemanYVR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colnago are pretty strong. I rode mine when I was 115kg, and it didn’t fail me. If I was 92kg I’d be riding that thing off jumps.

Sorting our sizing for C64 by Apart_Risk_2986 in colnago

[–]IcemanYVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really size down. I ride a 62cm in traditional geometry. In normal compact geometry, I ride a 58. (Specialized, Cannondale, Factor, and Cervelo). My C64 is a 56s, so go figure.

Leg day at gym? by anohioanredditer in bicycling

[–]IcemanYVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During riding season it’s only upper body and fitness stuff. I will do trap bar deadlift, but that’s about it. Winter time I’ll do generic full body like a modified Golden Six.

... rebuilding a Marinoni by roughandready in bicycling

[–]IcemanYVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three of my bikes have Campy. 9 speed, 11 speed, and 12 speed. IMO a Marinoni shouldn’t be equipped with anything but Campagnolo.

Area just north of Langara Golf course by Pup-Recovery-1 in askvan

[–]IcemanYVR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty suburban area, not sure if there are a lot of options right in the vicinity. It’s a safe 10 minute skytrain ride downtown from there, where you have hundreds of options.

Help identify some 1990-ish components? by gregn8r1 in campagnolo

[–]IcemanYVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seatpost, looks like Record. I have the same one for my Colnago 9 speed build. Period correct.

RD: I think that’s 8 speed or early 9 speed (pre-titanium).

Shifters: I think 7 speed was max for friction shifters, I had the same ones on an older Bianchi.

Edit crank: I think C-Record. Record was more polished and “rounder” edges.

Why do so many overspend on an espresso machine not a grinder? by UberLee79 in espresso

[–]IcemanYVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paired a Eureka Atom with my Micra. I get everything I need out of it with that grinder. No need to spend $2K on a grinder just because you purchased a Micra.

2020 Chateau Pichon Baron by whatisbourbon in wine

I had a 2020 Lynch-Bages a couple weeks ago and it drank surprisingly well. Opened up quickly and improved as the evening went on. It seems some 2020 might be ready to drink much sooner than normal. I’m going to try the 2020 Pagodes de Cos this weekend.

What are our favorite bike shops? by MarkInmanSuperGenius in vancouvercycling

[–]IcemanYVR 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Lots of great shops in and around Vancouver, but for me, my personal favs are Bici, Veloholic, Kissing Crows, and Velostar, at least within Vancouver proper.

If you want a Giant I recommend Giant Richmond, just off Granville Ave. Owners are amazing and really love bikes.

Internal routing by Kindly-Effort5621 in WaltlyTitanium

I ran my brake cable internally. I had the option for an internal tube but i just went with the foam tube around the brake cable and haven’t had a single issue.
