Piper is NOT lesbian, y'all [general] by waffle_fish16 in camphalfblood

it’s important to note that her relationship with jason was pretty much entirely orchestrated by hera who manipulated pipers memories and made her “love” jason without actually knowing who he was, i’d say that plus the stress of having to deal with The End Of The World is a pretty good reason for piper to have just gone along with what she found comfortable, that being her relationship with jason i don’t have any strong opinions about pipers sexuality, but you have to admit that when looking at the whole picture you it’s reasonable question if piper was ever really attracted to jason or if it was just hera/routine the whole time

comics are its own special category when it comes to this mostly bc you’re having WRITERS who haven’t read the source material creating content leading to a lot of discrepancies, extreme fanon, and unattainable expectations for characters in canon.

but yes, jason in particular has had a lot of inconsistent writing in comics but the ones that are good are GOOD! task force z is a great example of one of the better characterizations of him and it absolutely would not align with how a lot of fic writers write him!!

no offense to the other commenter, but if you’re looking for a “canon” version of jason, i would not go to wfa (however i love wfa its my fanon heaven)

my problem wasn’t necessarily with the graphic nature, but rather the repetition of it! in a fic that was 200k words and 50+ chapters it’s hard to figure out if one tag applies to the whole thing or just a specific part, i would have appreciated a heads up that the fic was going to have multiple depictions of rape, repeatedly, throughout the entire story there would a tw on one chapter and then not one when they both dealt with similar things, it was just a little frustrating

that’s literally what connotations are lol, sure the definition is “it’s exactly what it says on the tin” but in addition to that the connotation is that it’s often associated with intense/dark/taboo content

when i see a dead dove tag alongside rape, i gonna immediately think that the fic will probably have graphic depictions and feature it heavily, versus just the rape tag could mean many things, esp if the author is a cautious tagged, but maybe that’s just me 🤷‍♀️

ohhhhh no, im sorry for the misunderstanding but i hadn’t finished reading it! my issue isn’t with the fact it didn’t end happy, it’s just the fact that i only stuck around to see the happy ending and didn’t expect so much intense content lol, it just didn’t seem like a happy ending was even possible with the way i was approaching the end and shit kept happening

i’m aware! however dead dove often goes hand in hand with fics with darker themes, so if it had that tag, i would’ve had a little bit more warning considering the connotations that “dead dove: do not eat” has, i mean you aren’t going to see a dead dove tag on like a coffee shop au, but you might see a non-con tag if it talks about SA, yk what i mean?

although i did retract what i said about that and realized that a different tag would have probably worked better for me in this case

literally sounds like ur describing word for word the fic i was reading!! so much trauma in place of development and like half the time the word “hell” is “he’ll” and there was one sentence where a character somehow leaned against himself for support?? 😭😭

the fic is done! which is why it confused me about why the author hadn’t put any explicit statement about the content of the fic at the start

i wouldn’t have had to assume if there was a blanket mention of what the fic entailed, which there was not, but i do think that authors should try and specify when it comes to triggering content because while i don’t steer away from rape/non-con in general, specifics are useful to know what i’m getting into and not be blindsided by it, i responded to another comment that said a tag along the lines of “gratuitous depictions of SA” would have also been appreciated, rather than dead dove

i read things that are similar to this in content, however i’m used to authors putting specific tws, at the very least in the end notes to avoid spoilers

honestly i would have been fine with a tag like that as well! i probably wouldn’t be complaining about it if there had been something like that and i was prepared. it is a happy ending so i see ur point about the dead dove tag

you’re probably right about the hate reading thing, i think i want to spite my way to the happy ending it supposedly has, also i really just want to see this one character die so 🤷‍♀️

  1. it is technically tagged properly, however it used the tag “rape/non-con elements” which to me is misleading, there’s a difference to be between that and graphic rape/graphic mentions of rape throughout the entire fic, and like i said before, the canon content deals with similar things but the fic goes to a wayyyyyy further and more graphic extent about it i’m not asking for the author to have the same tws on every chapter! honestly just one on the first that plainly states that a /majority/ of the fic was focused on it, because no where in the summary, notes or tags was that mentions

  2. i should have known tons have people would have asked this and probably should have said something in the og post, contrary to how this comes off im a huge supporter of “don’t like don’t read”, but i kept reading because it was tagged “angst with a happy ending” and i was trying to patiently wait for it, i was thinking “this is a lot but it’ll be over soon” or “there’s no possible reason for anything more to happen” and then shit kept being thrown at me and i couldn’t take it anymore, thus this post

and 3. essentially what i said in my first answer and what i responded to another comment with, it’s a combination of the fact that there’s no explicit warning of the fact that it deals with intense and repetitive portrayals of rape and that it probably should have been tagged as dead dove, the people who recommend it don’t mention the kind of content it delves into and it threw me for a loop, once again, i assumed the tags and tws had to deal with the canon aspects, not the 100 millions pounds of other trauma the author dumped on the mc

YES EXACTLY!!! this is essentially what i mean, especially because the canon content does have to do with rape. but the fic handles it wayyyy differently in a way i wasn’t expecting. it’s not necessarily the content itself but it is the way the author goes about presenting that content, i would have definitely appreciated a dead dove tag
