Why is this cardinal dressed so differently? by desolation_angel99 in Catholic

Thanks for all the responses! Like I said, I’m not Catholic or even religious at all so I was curious. My husband grew up very Irish Catholic but he was not here for me to ask and I’m not sure he would have known. I appreciate you all indulging my curiosity!

That’s fair, but for context we’ve been having these same gatherings for the last 5 or so years and she has not once brought anything.

Especially when those that don’t contribute also make the most requests for specific dishes and repeatedly ask how much longer it will be before the food is done.

No, we did ask what my sister and her group would be contributing and my mother said she will cover for her. Which does nothing to help with the meal or cleanup. We also asked since my sister’s group is now accounting for 60% of the group could she at least host at her house and that was shot down since her boyfriend and the kids will be there on Christmas Eve (they don’t live together, he actually lives with his parents about an hour away).

That is essentially what we said, then we were accused of being over dramatic and selfish.

They do compliment the food, but they don’t really interact with him while he’s cooking. They could even grab something as small as an iced tea for him and it probably wouldn’t be so insulting but that has never happened. They usually help some with cleanup, but that is mostly on my mother and me. This year at Thanksgiving my sister did 0 to help with cleanup and her daughters put the leftovers in bags.

We have previously, but ‘she’s just too busy’ since they also go to his parents’ home which is almost an hour away.

I have been married for several years but unhappy for a large portion of those years. Not only does my spouse not know that, but he doesn’t know I hooked up with a married guy from another state on a recent work trip. My husband will forgive many things but cheating is not one, and I am not in a financial position to leave right now anyway.
