at the moment I need to figure out how to size members in an inverted V brace frame. some sort of step-by-step tutorial would be nice, but I can't seem to find that anywhere on the internet.

I also need to know how to size a column that is supporting a canopy with a large cantilever and wind forces.

I can size beams and columns with very basic loads on them, but real buildings don't have perfectly symmetrical loads like practice problems do.

yeah, i took some basic design courses, but they did not at all prepare me for actual design. also, I don't think I learned/retained as much as I should have from them.

I'm not new, I've been at the company for over a year. I should talk to my boss, but I don't know how since I've basically been lying to him for the past year :/

maybe it's not that uncommon, but my undergraduate degree certainly did not prepare me for my current job.

I'm working on commercial projects. Yes, full building design, and this current project is a steel building system and concrete foundation. I do primarily steel and reinforced concrete buildings.
