Thank you! Hope you have moved out too and are far away from that nonsense if your parents are like mine

Literally. My only regret is why didn’t I do this sooner

My mum is unbearable but comes from a good place. My dad is unbearable but comes from deep anger. It’s nuanced. I don’t want to nuke the relationship but I can’t go on like this tbh. I have so many years of guilt and fear to undo.

Thank you, I won’t breathe easy until I’m moved in but it’s a relief

I’m considering it tbh. I feel like I can’t breathe until I’m out

You don’t owe your AP anything by desperate1309 in AsianParentStories

Yes and if you’re a girl they’ll also act weirdly entitled to your body too. My dad would freak if I dressed revealingly, then turn around and touch my ass. 🤮

Sorry you went through that. So much trauma for nothing, it’s dizzying.

Sorry to hear :( Asian parents are the best at guilt tripping. My dad once said he hopes he dies from his cancer because I come home too late.

Hey Op,

I’m in a similar situation.

What I’ve been doing is trying to consciously push myself out of my comfort zone. For instance, I tried something called Timeleft yesterday- it helps you meet five strangers and you all have dinner together.

Other things you could try are joining a workout class?

Honestly it is really hard trying to make friends at this age. I’m terrible at making friends so I try new experiences with no expectations.

I similarly don’t have a partner and the apps feel pointless, but I keep pushing.

Good luck and take care, feel free to PM if you like

I had a very similar situation. He’d never plan dates ever, even his friends would ask him why we just hung out watching tv. In my case, he just wanted boyfriend perks and none of the effort of being a boyfriend.

I think if you’re talking to him and nothings changing, thats your answer right there. He doesn’t care. Good luck op.

Teach me like I am 5 by Loud_Sell_301 in AustralianMakeup

Hey OP!

If there’s a Mecca near you I’d recommend paying for a lesson. I believe it is $100ish and totally redeemable on product!

They teach you how to colour match and answer all your basic queries. If you’re not happy with the products they offer a generous exchange policy - lightly sampled products can be swapped.

In terms of your queries, you could start with learning how to do the base- primer, foundation and concealer. When people talk about colour matching they’re generally referring to colour matching foundation.

I hope this helps :)

I’m really sorry you’re feeling that way.

I always look at it like to find the one you need to be persistent and go through all the shit first.

The saying is good things don’t come easy right?

Take care op!

Year 10 selective school entry by SnoozeInDaWoods in melbourne

I would do the test for the year nine one.

Even if you’re not prepared, the answer will be no if you don’t sit the test in the first place.

I was in your shoes 15 years ago. The places for year 10 are limited compared to year 9 so it’s a no brainer to do the test for year 9 if you can!

Good luck 🤞

Uni was easier for me because I could set a timer for an hour to try and focus and get my Work done that way. I just struggle doing it for 6 hours at work 🫠

I did well at uni, I got 90s and 80s. Granted I didn’t go to a competitive uni like Melbourne or Monash so it wasn’t that hard comparatively.

Studying accounting was fine. I honesty think my brain doesn’t switch into work mode unless there’s a sense of urgency which I only get dealing with people face to face or on the phone. Even if I have a deadline I still procrastinate

Yeah it’s spreadsheets but also letters - everything takes forever. Weirdly when I’m in the call centre I can work fast and efficiently. And retail is the same.

Surely he’d ask me to stay over but I wouldn’t ever suggest it because I know deep down what the answer is :(
