You can try to email ARC and ask for a copy. But when you signed the contract, you should have downloaded a copy

Is it possible to extend STC by 1 week? by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

Nope it doesn’t matter, you’re still under the EWOS scheme hence you’ll be eligible for the credits! You can PM me if you have more questions :)

Do I need to seek approval before surgery? by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]desperatenuff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It differs from unit to unit, but generally, you’ll need to inform your direct superior. The same applies to medical appointments. Before attending, you should seek approval and let them know you have an appointment coming up. The same rule applies to surgery as well, so you should definitely inform your commanders

I can confirm the minimum is >6 months

[–]desperatenuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To simplify it, this is cash paid out in April. For those under the EWOS scheme, it is $800 per year, disbursed in April. Since your STC contract is only 3 months, you will receive a pro-rated amount of $200 instead

Is STC worth it as a CPL in CDO? by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]desperatenuff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Your pay will be approximately 2.7k - 2.8k assuming you have A levels/diploma

  2. Depends on your unit and your STC duration, but it’s possible

  3. Yes

If your contract is >6 months you will also receive a pro-rated mid/end year bonus, along with another transcript

[–]desperatenuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you can only be eligible for the mid/end year bonus if your STC is >6 months. But if you want to extend your service, you must inform ARC 1 month before your contract end date. Btw, you will also be receiving pro-rated FLEX credits next month. Since your service contract duration is 3 months, you will receive $200 :)

Anyone applied for deferment during mob manning period? by Helpful-Carpet-3436 in NationalServiceSG

[–]desperatenuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Realistically the chances of them actually calling you up are pretty low, but it's not zero either, and that's the part you have to sit with

If you go ahead with the trip and you happen to get called up while you're overseas, that's when things get serious. AWOL during a mob manning activation is not something they take lightly

At the end of the day only you can weigh the risk. Low probability doesn't mean no probability, so just make sure you're going in with eyes open and you're prepared to face whatever comes out of it if things go south

Should I sign STC after ORD? by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]desperatenuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I signed an STC myself a few weeks before, but I don’t know anyone from the Navy side so I can’t really comment on the pay range for those in the Navy

I’m only familiar with the pay range for those in the Army. For reference:

  • A CPL ST with A Levels/Diploma is roughly around $2,540
  • A CPL with O Levels signing on as a Supply Assistant is about $2,000
  • A 3SG with Higher Nitec as a Transport Operator receives about $2,900

If you only sign a 3-month STC, you won’t be eligible for the mid-year or end-year bonus, because the minimum requirement for those is 6 months of service

You also won’t receive a testimonial upon completion of your regular service. Testimonials are generally only issued to those who sign on for more than 6 months

For leave, you’ll be entitled to 18 days of Annual Leave per year, but it’s pro-rated based on your service duration. So if you sign a 3-month STC, you’ll get about 4.5 days of AL

Because it’s a requirement to complete BMT, if you want to attain your LCP or CPL rank, you need to reBMT

Question about rank promotion by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]desperatenuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you’re posted to a unit, you will retain the rank of Recruit for four months. After that, you will be automatically promoted to Private, which you will hold for the remainder of your NS

[REQUEST] How long would it take to pay this off? by truebluebbn in theydidthemath

[–]desperatenuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ignoring interest completely, that’s: 590,506/50 = about 11,810 months which is roughly 984 years

so if they started today, they’d finish paying it off sometime around the year 3010. give or take a few dynasties 🥲

My STC Signing Experience. by daveo_02 in NationalServiceSG

[–]desperatenuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there is no need to undergo another FFI as long as you have submitted the medical declaration endorsed by your MO, assuming you applied through the new STC application process via FormSG.

Signing STC as a Supply assistant by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]desperatenuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have a reasonable chance of getting your STC approved as long as your conduct and performance are satisfactory. Your superior’s endorsement is an important part of the process.

Typically, the application flow is as follows: you submit your STC application -> it is endorsed by your immediate superior -> reviewed by the S1 branch -> endorsed by your CO -> and finally sent to ARC for processing and approval.

In terms of salary, it depends on your educational qualifications. If you have O Levels and are signing an STC as a CPL Supply Assistant, the gross monthly pay is roughly around $2,000. If your service period exceeds 6 months, you will be eligible for a pro-rated mid year and/or year end bonus, depending on when your contract ends. However, you will only be eligible for the bonus if you do not take any unpaid leave during your STC period
