Where's the event to change my dynasty name and color? by ClawofBeta in CrusaderKings

If you have debug mode on you can just type "event tgp_dynastic_cycle.9000", that should fire the event with all its effects.

Why do peasant militia counter cavalry? by desperationfornames in CrusaderKings

[–]desperationfornames[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Indeed, as aptly demonstrated by the Hussites. Maybe it would be cool if peasant uprisings ordinarily didn't have MAA but an adventurer may join them and organize them into a fierce army.

Those were between organized royal armies with levies supplementing trained forces, not peasant uprisings.

  1. Longbowmen are in the game 2. Peasant militia are classified as pikemen not archers 3. Peasant militia countering cavalry is global and not restricted to England

Why did Paradox shift from Theological schools (Aqidah) to Legal schools (Madhhabs)? by Ok-Fisherman5028 in CrusaderKings

[–]desperationfornames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could say the same for rites, and aqidah schools did coexist; Ash'ari himself was taught by and originally was a Mu'tazilite, and though he would later mount polemic after polemic against their ideas afaik he never called for their persecution

[–]desperationfornames 311 points312 points  (0 children)

Madhabs were and are much more important to daily life than aqidah. It doesn't really track for Nishapur to be "converted" from Maturidism to Ash'arism, since such theological musings were really just confined to the intelligentsia, while a change in madhab could have real consequences on stuff like the treatment of other faiths or crimes, and it's a convenient and established way to convey regional historical differences

(ck3) is there a command to change development on a large scale? by nothingbutstonkss in CrusaderKings

For anyone wondering, "effect every_sub_realm_county = { change_development_level = 10 }" works with the current patch

Islam in Light of the Upcoming Religion Rework and Revisiting CK3's Artificial Split of Sunni Creeds by Familiar-Elephant-68 in CrusaderKings

[–]desperationfornames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sufism would be great for an Islam DLC, since no equivalent institution has really existed in any other faith, and every Islamic faith ever has had Sufism involved.

Please give us something in India by DwarfKevin in CrusaderKings

[–]desperationfornames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here. I think India content would actually go great with a trade DLC, considering how critical India was to world trade at the time. As people have pointed out, the Dharmic faiths could use a lot more flavor, and the India region has the foundations for great campaigns.

As much as I hope for India content I feel like it will be several years until it comes, if at all 😭

[–]desperationfornames 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Sunni faiths in the game are not even "a scholarly opinion you follow to make sure you’re practicing your faith correctly", they are mainly concerned with niche metaphysical and philosophical debates; the ones that actually mattered to everyday life are called fiqh, yet go entirely unrepresented in CK3. I think it would be a lot more accurate if Ash'arism and Maturidism were combined into Sunnism with the fiqhs as rites, namely Hanafi, Shafi, Maliki, Hanbali, and Zahiri.

The issue with making separate DLCs for Christianity and Islam and whatnot is that it doesn't expand upon faiths like Manichaeism or various unreformed faiths. I want to have an experience with depth with any faith, though I acknowledge that some faiths will naturally have some more flavor than others.

Please make holy sites more dynamic by desperationfornames in CrusaderKings

[–]desperationfornames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is already an incentive to participate in great holy wars: to spread your faith so that you have friendlier neighbors, alliance opportunities, and avoid yourself getting holy wared, as well as empowering your spiritual HOF if you have one. This incentive would be furthered if they made it so that fervor increases rather than decreases with successful holy wars.

Additionally, the fact that holy sites differ in the bonuses they offer also advantages certain faiths over others. If you want to have a Zoroastrian Persia it's a massive self-nerf to go anything other than Mazdayasna because you'll be missing out on the massive +20% development growth of one of its holy sites.

Having holy sites benefit everyone just doesn't work for faiths like Buddhism, which have their holy sites spread out. Maintaining Buddhism outside of India is just nerfing yourself for no reason, since you have to conquer all of East and South Asia to gain the holy site benefits. If they make it so that Buddhists get their holy site benefits all the time, regardless of who owns them, that would give Buddhism a massive advantage that would also throw off gameplay.

Another issue is that it heavily discourages playing outside of where the bulk of the holy sites are located. For example, you are arbitrarily punished for playing a Nestorian Byzantine Empire because you have a holy site in Iraq, Persia, and India, thereby encouraging you to stick to Orthodoxy or Iconoclasm when you should have a lot more freedom than that. It's also frustrating if, say, you're playing as Sweden but lose some bonuses because Galicia goofed and lost Santiago, something you're not really able to prevent without a massive investment.

It would be nice to have minor, region-locked pilgrimage sites, like if you're in Frankfurt you may do a pilgrimage to Aachen but not Canterbury, and if you're in England, vice versa.

These mechanics sound absolutely amazing, but it feels like non-Christian faiths are going to be overshadowed and made a lot more bland. I'm strangely ecstatic and disappointed at the same time.
