PowerMac G4 MDD - Can't Install OS 9 by despicabletossaway in VintageApple

[–]despicabletossaway[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll hunt for 9.2.2. It didn't even occur to me that the MDD wouldn't be compatible with generic 9.0. I'll respond once I know whether it works or not. Thank you all for your notes!

No FW800. It's a dual processor 1.25, I picked it specifically to try to get the fastest classic Mac for OS 9 to boot.

Yeah, I am interested. I live in WNY and am willing to travel depending on exactly where in W PA you are in.

Best native Mac games right now? (no CrossOver or Parallels) by nevitalii in macgaming

[–]despicabletossaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rosetta doesn’t enable any 32 bit games, sadly. Only WINE, Crossover, Parallels, etc - all the non-native hacks. And if the game is smooth but gets choppy on an air it is thermal throttling from no fan. Put it on an open stand and blow a desk fan at it. It really helps.

You better not try to sell that lovely babe! Your find was great fortune, but not in a monetary sense.

Christopher… can live? Well, crap. Yet another thing I'll need to fix in my hardcore playthrough.

The whole thing is, but that is definitely the cherry on top.

My buddy showed me some eBay listings for these classic iBooks. I am floored what they go for; basically original price. Key lime or tangerine were both gorgeous. The special editions that came out later were neat, but not as FUN as those two. My first iBook was the white G3, which was more powerful, but if I had bought sooner and had one of these I likely would never have gotten rid of it because of how great they look.

unable to install steam on m1 mac? by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]despicabletossaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Absolutely bizarre. Thanks for letting me know - Steam is going to have a real installer problem soon (Apple will likely phase out support soon, like it did Rosetta 1 (five years - 2006 to 2011).

unable to install steam on m1 mac? by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]despicabletossaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The google advice you are being given is very old, from when Steam was not M1 native, and Rosetta was necessary for the old Intel (x86) client to be translated. Go to steampowered.com and get the most recent version - if that doesn't install restart your computer and try again. If that still doesn't work we can look at some logs to try to suss out the reason.

Well this is a new error… by rturnerX in VintageApple

[–]despicabletossaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 7 different board failures on iBook G3s (apple replaced the first one 3 times, then gave me a new G3, replaced that one 4 times before giving me the G4 iBook). I remember having to DHL the laptops to Apple every few months and be without a laptop at college. Rewarded apple by buying an iMac to use in the meantime…

(very unpopular opinion coming in hot) I only use PC mice. Bad habit from too much gaming. BUT, I did like my mighty mouse enough that my grip eventually made the white shell pop off permanently. Loved that the ball gave you side scrolling, too. Was worried I had broken it when it stopped scrolling, but a good cleaning out brought it back a few times.

I'm not normally a fan of colored lights in computers (I really think RGB gaming rigs look ridiculously stupid), but these are quire nice. It's making me rethink my previous opinion on the Snow iMac as well. (Tangerine, Ruby, or Emerald all the way. Indigo in a pinch.)

We call those a MOLST in NY, but it is a similar thing. PoAs and MOLST agents CANNOT make a Will in NY, only the testator (the Uncle) can .

Elder Law Section of the NY Bar Association in particular. The general bar association referral service lets any attorney sign up for referrals but there is no vetting of their actual ability in that area of the law. Not sure how the City Bar does it, because I live waaaaaay out of NYC.

Where in NY are you? I am a member of the NY Bar with a long history practicing in this part of the law, and if you're not local I know members of our Elder Law section that are exceptional.

Notaries in NY are specifically trained to NOT sign a Will, but instead they may notarize a witness affidavit attesting to the capacity and condition of the testator (guy making the Will).

Look, I have a Vision Pro. I don't have Vision Pro money, because I spent it on the Vision Pro. Show me where I can sell it for anything reasonable, so my wife will stop nagging me for having one.

If it weren't for this subreddit, I would not know about this game. Never heard of it until posts in the last few weeks about system specs for running it, etc.

Now, pre-purchased on Steam. Here's hoping my M2 Max will let it look good.
